Greetings,

Looking for some advice/knowledge from anyone with experience or education regarding these coatings (Titanium Nitride and Nickel Boron).

Specifically, I have a Walther PK380 that has a worn barrel block due to slide friction. I just noticed the slightest beginning of rust on it (since I was leaving it in the trunk of a vehicle...I've added silica gel to storage container so that should handle the problem but figured might as well go the extra step)

So I'd like to gain protection with a durable finish to resist the slide wear.

I have limited experience with either of these finishes. I believe the NiB has superior lubricity but the TiN will have a superior hardness rating. TiN would make my barrel gold which isn't a deal breaker but its not exactly a pro in my book.

The final option I encountered just this morning was the cerakote dry film lubricant coating (this I know nothing about at all).

Any insights, advice, recommendations, etc is appreciated.

RC's suggestion is awesome. Also look at industrial hard chrome...I had a Colt Pocket Hammerless done in hard chrome by APW Cogan and the gun is phenomenal. Really rust resistant and the lubricity of the hard chrome is right up there.
