Any ideas how I can make them less noticeable, they are small but I am  about them. The revolver is new and somehow I kissed it in and out of the safe:banghead: Any help would be great. It is a Ruger new vaquero .45 colt

I had the same nutty condition with my New Vaq 357. A couple very small scratches.
I used the Flitz and it worked well, but I heard somewhere that Mother's mag wheel polish worked better, so I bought some of that too.
The Mother's will take less time to polish it.
I used the flitz on one side of the kitchen sink and the Mother's on the other side. The Mother's has a stronger shine.
Use lots of rags.

Great info to have. I am getting some small lines on my Colt Series 70 reissue. Thank-you,

In my experience, Flitz works on bright stainless but takes a LONG time to work well.

Don't forget to line the safe with something to keep it from happening again. Something that doesn't hold moisture would be ideal.

If the Flitz does not work you could try polishing with red rouge. Its the finest of polishing compounds. Used mostly for gold it is not supposed to take any material with it. White compound will however take off material and would be good for scratches that actually cut into the surface and you can drag a fingernail on.

I have a PPK/S that I managed to put a hairline scratch on. I used No. 7 Polishing compound, and 000 steel wool. Very, very carefully. No more scratch. What a way to spend an hour or so ...

Jeweller's rouge and a cloth wheel in a bench grinder or rotary tool will polish them out. Mind you, you might have to do the whole thing.

Hey guys, it used to bother me about small scratches on my guns. Mind you I take care of my guns, but sooner or later you're gonna get some scratches. Learn to live with them for a while and if they still bother you send the gun off to have it bead blasted (assuming it's stainless). You're gonna spend countless house polishing and it's not going to match.

+1 live with the scratches or beadblast. Do not use any kind of steel wool period whether fine or not on stainless steel. Steel wool will impart itself into the stainless steel leaving you wondering why is it rusting later on?:banghead:

The No. 7 compound after working the surface seems to take any residue out. Granted, I did this about three months ago --- no problems since. Just getting over tiny scratches is probably the best method :D
