Does anyone have published loads for using titegroup and 10mm loads? I have a lot, and would like to use it for some light loads. I have a new Dan Wesson Razorback, and would like to break it in with some lighter loads. My books don't list anything.

I see titegroup used for the .40 s&w. It doesn't seem like a good idea, but could I use 40 load data for the 10mm?

Thanks

Never use load data for any cartridge other than what it's published for.

Given that 10mm is a bit larger than .40 S&W, the case volume may prove a bit too large for Titegroup - you probably need a slower powder. I haven't tried it as of yet, but I've also heard that Titegroup doesn't match up very well with cast bullets.

EDIT: Having said that, it does appear that Hodgdon does publish some Titegroup recipes for 10mm on their website.

I haven't tried Titegroup and cast 10mm, but I've been using AA7 and cast in 10mm for years, if it ain't broke don't fix it right? I'm using a start load with 180 gr. Missouri bullets at the moment, it's a nice load.

I do use Titegroup for .38 cast and 9mm Jacketed and so far so good, it tends to live up to it's name.

Only downside I see to it is case capacity...be extra diligent of double charges.

Lucky you with the RZ!

Does anyone have any suggestions for a new reloader 10mm? I haven't bought any bullets or powder yet, just 1000 pcs of starline brass.

I would say that as a user of Titegroup in dozens of pounds and dozen calibers with cast, plated & jacketed, that using Titegroup at high pressures with cast will leave a lot of smoke and scorched brass. Don't think I dislike Titegroup- I use it as my primary powder in nearly anything- but it has limits. It is very peaky and and prefers full loads to be cleanest and it is very, very hot burning.

Titegroup works in anything, but does not develop full velocity compared to other better powders for the specific application. You could make a load for 10mm with Titegroup. It would work fine within Titegroup's rather special parameters. But you could do better.

IMHO the best 10mm/40S&W powder is AA#9 then 800-X followed by HS-6. 800-X meters like hockey pucks, AA#9 & HS-6 = ball powder.

Thank you. Too bad. I still have 4 pounds of it. I'll use it with other jacketed loads. I want an economical practice load.

I've loaded and shot well over 10,000 cast 200 grain 45 Colt bullets using Titegroup in SASS. I've used Titegroup in cast and jacketed rounds in 38 Special, 38-40, 44-40, 44 Special, 357 Magnum, 38 Super and a few more. I buy it in 8 lb cans. Right now, I'm loading 500 rounds of 185 grain Nosler bullets for 45 ACP using Titegroup. Makes a good Bullseye round. After reading a few of the inputs, I guess that I need to change powders.

Lee, Hornady, and Lyman Handloading manuals show using Titegroup in 10mm. Lyman has the most 10mm recipes. Oh yea, I use to load a 175 grain cast bullet with Titegroup for a 10mm Delta. If I remember right, the one limit with Titegroup in 10mm is that one can't go much over 1100 fps. If you're trying for a speed record, say 1300 fps +, you'll have to change powders. Just my limited experience.

I want something that falls between 1000 and 1100 fps. I'll get back into my manuals. Thanks again.
