(TN) Our gun bills. 0 for 5

You can all tell from the title this isn't going to be as uplifting as reading about the goings on in Kansas or Nebraska.

HB3300
-This was our parking lot carry. It was killed in the House Constitutional Protections Sub-Committee.

HB2860
-Park carry. It was killed in the House Constitutional Protections Sub-Committee.

HB2638
-Removal of TICS check, and replacement with NICS. Would save the buyer $10 on every gun purchase. It was killed in the House Constitutional Protections Sub-Committee.

HB3834
-Would have made shooting from a vehicle a crime (personally, I opposed this portion, it won't do anything to stop drive-bys, and might make someone worry about defending themselves from their vehicle), but would also have toughened penalties for felonies (the good part, which probably caused the following). It was "Taken Off Notice" in the House Constitutional Protections Sub-Committee.

HB3857*
-This was our emergency powers bill, which would stop gun confiscations after a disaster. Had the NRA support and all that. It was killed in the House Constitutional Protections Sub-Committee.

HB3592
-Will make stun guns and the like military and police only. Expect this bill to have died in the HCPSC? No, it passed. It was sent on to the Judiciary committee. Laws restricting what the peons can have are good to those guys.

*-This bill is a prime example of why our bills cannot get out of the House. Here is a quote from John Harris, head of the TFA: (quote made before the bill was killed)

"The House Democrats will probably kill it for one reason - it is sponsored by the NRA and NAIFEH - HATES - the NRA. It is not a policy issue, he has a personal vendetta and will doing anything to kill whatever the NRA wants."

For those of you suffering in places like Wisconsin, where it is a handful of very liberal Democrats shafting you, we down here feel your pain. The very liberal Democrats who run the state House are not giving us an inch. For those of you who may be curious, who makes up the House Constitutional Protections Subcommittee? Here are the members:

Rep. Janis Sontany (D) - Voted us down last term. She is an anti. (She is also the chair.)
Rep. Rob Briley (D) - Oh you better believe this guy is anti.
Rep. Kent Coleman (D) - Got an NRA endorsement (campaigned as pro-gun), then turns around and stabs everyone in the back.
Rep. Kim McMillan (D) - House Majority leader. Very liberal. Was on this committee last year as well, she voted against us routinely.
Rep. Eric Watson (R) - Freshman Republican.

So, to all my fellow Tennesseans, find out who your Rep is. Find out where they stand. If they are a D, they have to go, or switch parties. As long as they have a D majority in the House, we won't get squat. And above all else:

Primaries and what-not are coming up. Help toss out the Naifeh Republicans, or any Democrats in the House. Especially the liberal ones.

The House Constitutional Protections Sub-Committee is headed by notorious lady from Memphis. She has single-handedly blocked all proRKBA legislation from escaping the CPSC except for one and that the Speaker blindsided with a vote and yea that put it right back into the CPSC before a real vote could take place.

That was last session. Chris Newton (R-ino) was heading the committee. He was nominally pro-gun, but when he passed a bill out Jimmy didn't like, he pulled it back immediatly. Put another way, he was more pro-Naifeh than he was pro-gun. (He got a Chair, for a Republican to do in Naifehs House only happens when you are an awesome boot-licker. Newton has since been convicted of bribery charges, and replaced. Our D Gov appointed Sally Love, who lost a special election to Eric Watson.)

The notorious Memphis woman you mentioned was Henri Brooks. She is the one who doesn't salute the flag, the US Flag stands for oppression of course. (She is TN's Cynthia McKinney.) However, she was never the chair. She is just your typical ultra-liberal black female Commi-crat.

Simply put, you don't know what you are saying.

We lobbied for these bills as much as we could. Jimmy Naifeh however, has packed certain committees with people who kill these bills for him. This way, he can say he never votes against us. However, he ensures it is rigged a certain way. But don't believe me, watch him lie for yourself:

name, the bills were written just fine, and had majority support (HB2225's Senate form passed 29-3). Naifeh is good at using parlimentary tricks to kill our bills. You have to have been fooled to think he is pro-gun. Of course He and his bodyguard carry, so does Dianne Feinstien and her bodyguard!

Any person who writes a letter to his rep/sen is pushing for a bill. Lobbying for the bill. Acting as a constituent. Lobbiest, concerned citizen, whatever title you want I don't care.

I am curious, who does your wife lobby for, that she would know this bill well enough, and what is her ability to call it poorly worded? (One thing, lets be specific, what gun bills does she think are poorly worded? I won't deny that some are, but the ones that have been big and caused a stink were not bad bills.) I know the head of the TFA, John Harris, is a lawyer specializing in firearms law. He never had a problem with 2225. So again I ask, who is your wife to know these are bad?

Yes, some Democrats have guns. The leadership however does not want us having them. Keep in mind, it is not your average run of the mill Democrat that is the problem. Rep. Frank Buck is a D, and he did the tough thing, specificly he doesn't vote the way King Naifeh wants him to, and he proposes good bills. Naifeh (Speaker) and McMillan (House Majority leader) however, are the leadership and they do everything they can to block good gun law.

realname, the obvious reason is that you brought her up first, in an effort to support your contention that you have some idea what you're talking about. it's like the opposite of the ad hominem logical fallacy. instead of attacking the person instead of the argument, like drinks just did to you, you're proping up your wife instead of your argument.

hate to say it, but if you want any credit, you'll either need to tell us who your wife works for or explain what's wrong with the wording in the bills.

I too live in a district where we are represented by a good man. (Shame he is retiring to, he always made sure to sick it to Naifeh.) However, we can do things to help, such as contributing money to those who are good.

To date, Mike Bell is the only one I have found. He is trying to oust a Republican who supports Jimmy Naifeh. http://votemikebell.com/index.html

I don't live in his district, but he is a good guy. He comes to my TFA chapter meetings. And yes, I have put my money where my mouth is on that guy.

The number one goal must now be to win four more House seats for the Republicans and put them in majority.

Talking about anything else is a waste of time.

The filing deadline for the state elections was last Thursday. We'll now be able to see some good information this week about which races will be competitive enough for us to get in, get involved, and help win.

In order to be more effective at that, we need to be better organized in the middle part of the state. For example, the TFA has yet to get a Nashville or a Murfreesboro chapter launched. Also, the NRA does not have Election Volunteer Coordinators in place for Congressional Districts 4 and 6.

If anyone of you living in District 4 or 6 would be interested in volunteering as the EVC, please PM me and let's talk (I'm the EVC in Distrct 7). Campaign season is right around the corner.
