Or keep loaded to be more precise. My buddy's in Iraq so I'm taking care of his 870 while he's gone. Needless to say that I've gotten used to having a shotgun in the house. My question is this; Is it a good idea to keep a shotgun loaded when your not in the house? When I'm at work for instance.

I just don't like the fact that some kid may break in on a dare or something and end up blowing his friends leg off. What are my liabilities for doing such a thing? Granted that any legal advice is up to me to varify for my area, just wanted to get an idea. Thanks for any advice.

Open the action and put a cable lock through it , and around the bed frame and the basement support post and the truck bumper, and.....

Seriously, I'm a big beliver in gun safes, or, at least, one of the $100 steel gun cabinets, lag bolted to the house, and concealed!

Unlocked and loaded when I'm home!

Stay safe.

I do just that right now but when I get home and cycle the action forward with a new round it's fine. But, the next day when I pop the pump back to run the cable lock through it before work, the round doesn't eject for some reason. This leads me to believe that the 870 will fail if I need a second round in a defensive situation. The Winny I had could do this just fine without problems all day every day. In fact I never had a problem with it. Makes me wish I hadn't sold it.

Thanks for the quick reply.
