I have a shipment of 500+ cases of 9mm that I started going thru and prepping when I run across this one from Aguila. It has a pretty deep cannelure just as visible on the inside as the outside. Should I be concerned about pressures with this case, or even if I should reload it? brass2.jpg brass1.jpg

I set it to the side; not sure if I can even get a measurement of the thickness. Like you said, I have too many to worry about one.

I've had no problems with Aguilla brass with the cannelure. Just make sure you don't load the bullet so deep that it pushes past the cannelure or else the case may be too big to chamber properly.

I don’t shoot any rare calibers so when in doubt I toss them in the recycle bin.

I don't think 9mm counts as a rare caliber. It might rank as the most common centerfire pistol caliber on the planet.

I agree... when in doubt, throw it out. Life's too short to fuss over a couple of pieces of brass out of 500+.

FWIW, I would load it ... but if it makes you uncomfortable, toss it. <shrug> :)

You can load it. Think about it. It has been shot at least once without any problems. If you are worried about toss it.

^^^THESE^^^

You are fine, I have loaded a bunch of these in the past without issues, but life is too short to worry about things like this. Any concerns at all, and I toss it. Not worth it for sure.

I have lots of 9X19 brass, so I sort out any with the "step" and the cannelure and just recycle them.
Probably fine to load it if you have a bunch, just a couple and I would toss them.
I had one of the "step" cases separate at the step leaving half the case in the barrel. Lucky it was just practice not a match. Load felt normal, medium power load.
Of course I don't know the history of the brass before hand.

There are some 38 Special ammunition, 38 target wadcutters if I remember correctly for the most part, that have cannelures below the bullets and they reload just fine. Over time and several reloading/shooting cycles, the cannelure gets ironed out.

If it was me, I'd resize it and reload it. But, 9x19 is fairly common and cases are readily available so if you are concerned, just scrap the case or cases.

P.S. 9x19 is a cartridge that the caliber is 9mm. There are lots of cartridges that are 9mm caliber, 9x19, 380 ACP (aka 9mm Kurz), 9x18 Markov (sp?) and so forth.
