I just received my K98 from Classicarms.us. It is awesome! It's a Russian capture, but is in great shape. Unfortunately, the swastikas have been peeded, but the eagles are really nice and clear.
The stock is in really good shape with very few bumps and bruises, but it does have that nasty red shellack which seems to be flaking in places. Would it negatively effect the collector value of the gun if I sand down the stock and refinish? OR.....if any of you have any methods you have used to pretty up the stock on your k98 without further devaluing the gun, I'd love to know what you did!
thanks!
