Todd, any stag working tips in specific dealing with shrinkage?
I'd cut some from the round then sanded it flat. The rounds had been in my accumulation for years BTW. They sat for a couple weeks before deciding to fit them to the knife. Sanded flat again, let sit a week then dove tailed where they met the bolster. Let them sit a few days and finally drilled for the knife. After shaping which I don't grind aggressively to keep them cool, they were good. Next day they had pulled back from the dovetail about 1/64'th, enough to create a gap. That was easy to fix but I've had others that shrank more and I basically follow the similar approach in working them.
Giraffe bone has been a bit better but those were stabilized samples yet still some shrinkage to deal with.
