Tokarev as a woods gun???

Yes, I recall those, but they have mixed reviews re: quality/reliability.

I was talking about those produced during WWII, the original-issues (or ones captured and used by the Germans)...there must be a whole bunch of them in Russia, even if buried/hidden in caches somewhere.

But if you can find an original FULL-AUTO PPSH41, they go for A WHOLE LOT of money.

Romanian surplus FMJ shot through a new, treated 5X5 for me. I think it'll penetrate a boar's head. However, the Wolf hollowpoint ammo is quite powerful also and has made a giant mess of anything I've shot with it (wood, bundled wet newpapers, etc.) I think it'd put a crimp in a boar's style pretty well.

A .357 is no slouch but the OP's gun has only a 2" barrel. In a tense situation, I'd much rather have my Tok or CZ 52 with their normal sight radii than a .357 snubby.

Why not just use the .357 or 40 with some good stiff loads? I would also consider reliability when choosing a woods gun.

Gee Cosmoline, a 7.62 hole isn't enough for feral hog?
I guess I better toss my .30-06. Shame too...I really like my old 03A3. :(
if it's junk, then its junk. Glad the internettubes set me straight.

;)

and for the record, I agree with most of the recommendations here. If you're going to carry a handgun, carry something big and fast. .357 would do the job nicely. .40 is good if you want an autoloader.
Never much cared for .45 but thats more a personal preference. 10mm would seem to be the new Jesus.
