Tom Tancredo for president

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=50374

No to Condoleezza Rice.

No to John McCain.

No to Newt Gingrich.

No to Haley Barbour.

None of these Republican politicians will be able to stop Hillary Clinton in 2008 or solve the most pressing problems facing this country.

Naturally, some readers are asking me for an alternative.

I've thought about this a great deal.

Hillary Clinton will be the choice of the Democratic Party. She is a dangerous demagogue who could, as president for four years, complete the destruction of this country begun during the eight years her husband held office.

She must be stopped.

While I have no faith in the Republican Party, given its pitiful track record since grabbing the presidency and control of Congress, it probably represents the only chance to limit the damage the federal government is wreaking on our country every day.

My preference would be a new party. My preference would be to build an alternative to the Republican-Democratic political trap. But time is short. I don't see this happening in 2008.

Unless a person with charisma, money and convictions – someone like Mel Gibson – arose to the challenge of an independent bid for the presidency in 2008, like it or not, we will be faced with a choice between a Democrat and a Republican.

Therefore, freedom-loving, security-conscious Americans need to rally behind a Republican candidate of principle and courage – someone who will speak to the core issues facing us all today.

In my humble opinion, there is one man who fills that bill – Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado.

He's a maverick. He marches to the beat of his own drummer. He's not afraid to criticize members of his own party – including his president. And that's what I love about him.

There is no one else in Congress or in national public life who has provided better leadership on the No. 1 national-security issue confronting the United States – the border and immigration policy.

Tancredo's prescription isn't radical – though it might seem that way based on the reaction of the Big Media and establishment politicians in both parties. What Tancredo is advocating are common-sense principles being implemented in nations all over the world – including in supposedly "progressive" Europe.

You can read about his plan for turning America around in his new book, "In Mortal Danger – The Battle for America's Border and Security" – published by WND Books. You can encourage him to make the run by buying it. You can raise his visibility as a national spokesman by sharing it with your friends. You can make your voice heard in Washington and around the country by making it a best seller.

It's real simple. A nation without borders ceases to be a nation. That is the threat we face with as many as 20 million illegal aliens already here and more pouring over the border every day.

I believe this is such a hot-button issue with the American people that Tancredo, a distinguished but otherwise obscure member of the House of Representatives, could actually win.

But even if he doesn't win, it is imperative that the issues he raises get a national debate before 2008. The chickens have come home to roost. This issue I have been writing about for years is now on the front burner. Much of the credit belongs to Tancredo. He has done an admirable job winning over many colleagues in the House.

However, it may take a national political campaign to save this country from the looming disaster illegal immigration and open borders represent.

That's why I am urging Tom Tancredo to make the run. I simply don't know of any other candidate in a position to make the case effectively.

Will he do it?

We need to encourage Tom Tancredo to gear up, raise the money he needs to get his campaign going, start organizing. We need to let him know we will back him. And we need to mean it.

You may say, "Farah, it's only 2006. There's a mid-term congressional election this year. Why are you obsessing over the 2008 presidential race?" Because it takes planning to win. And I want America to win in 2008.

Tom Tancredo for president.

How do you like the sound of that?

I don't vote, never have.

But if he runs I will CAMPAIGN for him, and my wife will vote for him as well. I will also talk my Sisters into voting for him. That's 4+ votes right there, 2 in Idaho and 2 in Oregon.

John McCain would destroy Hillary in the general election.

And I don't think that would be a good thing.

For once, voting for the greater of two evils would be voting for the lesser of two evils. Hillary would draw so much bipartisan polarization, much like the 16 yrs of her husband and W, that no real damaging legislation could be accomplished.

McCain bends over backwards to be Mr. Partisan and he could do A LOT more damage.

Either John McCain or Condeleza Rice would beat Hillary.

Tancredo will be slaughtered by the leftist media and make Bob Dole look electable ... yeah I'm a fan of Tom's and I'm proud he's a Coloradoan but he's just not electable.

Also the Colorado Republican party wouldn't allow it ... Governor Owens (borderline RINO) is the next in line from Colorado as he is being term limited out.

Might as well get Ron Paul to run for president (again) and lose (again).

But lets look at McCain and Rice.

Rice flaty refuses to run (smart lady really) and McCain would NOT win the primaries ... the base of the GOP would like to kick him out of the party so there's no way he'd get the nomination.

Newt ... I like Newt but the media would eat him alive.

As for Hillary ... the DNC and the right wing of the GOP are just convinced she'd win but I don't think so ... the American people are too smart to elect that Hillary creature.

Tom Tancredo's the only choice so far. Maybe Newt Gingrich, but I'm not yet convinced of his sincerity. I'm dangerously close to switching to Independent.

I'm a big fan of Tancredo but he will never get mainstream GOP support. This is the same guy who was told by Rove to "never darken the door of the White House again." The Usual Suspects in the GOP hate him. How much Dem support he would draw is uncertain. Of course he will be demonized by the media as a "racist."

He could run as a third party maverick or gadfly--and probably should. We need to see how well a "nationalist" candidate can pull.

It's possible that the immigration wars in Congress will thrust forward a good new candidate. Some, in fact, seem to be emerging. At the moment George Allen looks like the Republicans' best shot against Hillary.

i tink an allen-tancredo ticket is very electable. the mm goes on about the Republican base being split over illegal aliens. they are right. it splits about 98 -2.

If the race comes down to Hillary vs. Tancredo, he'll be so far behind in the polls come election day that the number of people intending to vote for him will be smaller than the measurable margin of error.

A "border security is first priority" candidate is a guaranteed failure, so if you care about your gun rights, it's best to look at the whole picture. Put your weight behind someone who stands for issues that actually motivate votes, instead of just talk.

lets see how the mid term elections go before we write any issues off.

Given the current political climate, Tancredo would stand a puncher's chance.
He'd get my vote. IMO, unchecked immigration, legal and otherwise, is the greatest modern threat our country faces.

Tancredo in '08.

The illegal alien/border issue is NOT going away--EVEN IF Congress passes a give-away-America bill. That bill will only introduce a second front: a War on Congressional Turncoats. We are only seeing the beginnings of what is going to be what Bush called the war on terror: a war that goes on for decades or generations. By '08, bill or no bill, The Problem will have become worse, and it won't disappear because people get amnesty.

I want RON PAUL.

So what if he's run and lost? That was back in '88--prehistory, to the modern American attention-deficit affected mind.

Ron Paul is the BEST FRIEND we taxpayers have ever had! If you can sell that to the lower and middle classes, you've got President Paul.

I'll settle for Tom, since I like him and what he stands for. But I really want Ron!

The problem with Tancredo

The problem with Tancredo is that he is not trustworthy.

He took a pledge to self-term limit himself and then, once he had the office, went back on his word.

Yes, he stands up and says things few if any would dare say but that's how one gets noticed in D.C.

Can he be trusted to ACT on his words? Can he be trusted to follow through on his promises?

His history doesn't lend itself to much trust.

Power is as addicting as booze or cigarettes and someone who wants more will lie to himself and to others to get what he wants.

Why can't I have another cigarette? Not just one? Because it won't be just one and it would be another 10 years before I stopped smoking again, or worse.

Tancredo broke his word once he had power and now he wants to be trusted with more of it?

I agree...wait for the mid-terms and then form a game plan. I don't see the Republicans gaining any seats though. They have pretty much let us down as far as I'm concerned. We have all the power and wasted most of it.

Me too, longeyes.

I don't care how much better than hillary mccain might be, but i will never vote for him, even if they could re-encarnate Teddy Roosevelt and run him as VP.

McCain, Hillary, Bush--three heads of a many-headed Hydra, as far as I'm concerned.

Giuliani might have the best shot at really winning, assuming a Giuliani Presidency wouldn't just move us along the same track...

Maybe one of the people who shines in the immigration debate...? New face.

Sessions? There are several who are showing me something. This is an issue that requires serious patriotism as far as I'm concerned. Good litmus test. Anyone wobbling on this one is automatically excluded.
