I have never made a knife before.
My son was throwing a $9 pair of broken scissors in the garbage this morning.

I watched some knife making videos on youtube. They used pins and epoxy.

I drilled holes in the scissors with a carbide end mill I got from Boeing surplus 10 years ago.
i used a sink drain rod for the brass pins.
I used scrap ironwood from someone's decking project.
I used Devcon liquid steel that is too runny for my gunsmithing.

The guys in the videos used 5 minute epoxy. I am going to have to wait overnight. That was fun.

You're doing a great job. Pins and epoxy IS how it's done - I just hope you wiped off the excess epoxy before letting it dry. Also, shape the front of the handles before glueing as there is no way to do it after without messing up the blade. All in all a good little project!

I applaud your interest in recycling, but if the scissors broke, perhaps the steel is too brittle for a knife?

OK I fixes the sander, but I can tell it is not the right kind for knife making. The knife looks like a knife, but it does not cut paper was well as a new $100 pocket knife.

Then it probably doesn't cut paper as well as a $5.00 pair of scissors, either. :)

I suspect it's due to the profile or the sharpening, though. I can't imagine you can tell the difference in steel on a paper cut test. Unless you're cutting a lot of paper.
