Yesterday I didn't own any double action revolvers. Today I own a bunch. I was able to pick up a few guns from an auction and I came home with 13 new firearms. Lots of S&W double action pieces in 45 colt, 44 mag, 44 spcl, 38 spcl, Colt Detective Special in .38, a few semi auto's in .380, 40, and 9mm from HK, Beretta, and Sig. Lots of it new in box and the rest in excellent condition.

Have a few more .44's and a .357 that should be coming in the next few weeks.

I almost don't know where to start...so I grabbed a S&W Model 29 in .44, loaded some snap caps and have been dry firing at people on TV all night.

Now I need to start shopping for reloading gear. I just got an email that someone is having a special on an 8 lb keg of powder...I think that might come in handy.

Congrats every auction I have been to latley a rubber band gun goes for a couple hundred bucks. Its crazy how much things go for around here.

wow, congrats, 13 babies at once, you must be roman catholic or something, :D

That is a lot of mouths to feed though, if you need some help with that I'm willing to adopt ;)

There were other people at the auction but it was run among a small group of people we knew who liked guns. A friend at work had a relative who passed away and he had over 100 guns in his collection.

We wanted to move them quickly and wanted people we knew to be involved.

We only bought about half of the guns in our first group. We're about to put the rest on gunbroker or some such site.

There is a Lew Horton Colt Combat Python in the collection that we just had authenticated by the Colt factory...that was pretty neat. There are only 500 of these Combat Pythons in existence and we have one. I guess this is how they come up for sale. If anybody is looking for one keep an eye out on gunbroker because this one is about to be sold. It's too much for me though...my wallet is tired at this point. Now that I think about it though...maybe...it is the slickest revolver I've ever fired.

I got excited as I went down the list. Apparently I my bill was bigger than everyone elses...but hey...you've got to jump on a good opportunity when it presents itself. I got everything about 25% to 50% below where it would come online or at a gun store.

I'll try to post pics later...they really are beautiful guns.

He had some ugly stuff in there though...like a Steyr GB. I'd never seen one before but he had two. One he shot and one was NIB. That might have been the ugliest gun in the batch.

Dr. B...I thought about selling it. I'm going to take stock this week. I laid them out last night and realized that I have five guns in 45 Colt...that might be excessive. Especially since I have two more 44's, a .357, and a .45 coming in next week.:what:

Keep the Python. The way prices are going up on Snake Guns, you will make a good profit on it in a few years. If you keep it and shoot it, it will give you a lifetime of pleasure.

That's thge kind of auction I would like to be at. Every one I've gone to, the winning bid ends up 10 to 30% more than than what the gun is worth. And that's before they tack on a 10% "Buyers premium", sales tax, and FFL transfer fee.

I quit going to them.

I bought 10 more today. I think my average is around 50% of market value for everything. I bought stuff today that i have no intention of keeping. I can sell a lot of it immediately and use the proceeds to pay for the stuff I keep.

I got an HKP9s and an HKVP70...a Steyr GB new in box. I'd never even heard of a Steyr GB...now I have a mint one. Funny how the day went. I could write a book about the last two weeks. I picked up a Colt Detective Special...I think it's a first generation...sweet condition. It's now going to take several days just to get my hands around it.

There were two Pythons in the group. One was the rare "lew horton combat python" and the other was a regular python. My buddy kept the regular one and we're selling the lew horton model.

Well done sir. You did what I dream of doing. Now we need photographic evidence.

I really did it this week. Long story short is that to make things work a little better I took down some additional guns. I ended up with 25 or so this week. I basically grew my collection exponentially due to a unique opportunity that came up. I don't know that it's a life time supply of guns...but it's a good start.

I got a nice surprise today. There was a S&W model 14-3 in the mix. It's a beautiful gun...as with most in this collection it was in excellent shape...looked almost new. When I went to pick the gun up I realized that it was broken. It wouldn't fire in double action mode. If you pulled the trigger the cylinder would cycle but the hammer wouldn't come back. If you thumbed it back to single action it worked great.

My gunsmith called today with good news...it's not broken at all. Someone converted this K38 Masterpiece to a single action bullseye gun. It's got a very nice case-hardened and matched trigger and hammer that delivers a super 3.5 lb single action pull. I can't wait to shoot it.

You asked for pics...here's one of the whole group (minus the two Berettas I got rid of). Let me know if you can't see this...I have a horrible track record of getting pics to show up):
