guns you wish you had kept

I've never sold or gotten rid of a gun. I still have the first gun I ever owned.

Although... the daughter will be moving out soon. I plan to gift her a Sig SP2022 in 9mm (she likes it). I've already replaced it with a .40 cal version though. :D

Armalite 180
Ithaca 37 Police Model

I've sold many others over the years and don't have too many regrets about sales, more regrets about purchases.

The second gun I ever owned: a bright stainless Colt 1991 gov't model .45ACP. The first gun I ever owned was a S&W 622 .22LR, good riddance to that one. :barf:

1) The Belgian Browning Hi-Power that saved my life (twice).
2) A pristine Colt 1908 .380 with box, instructions, factory target, and trigger tag.

Both were sold to pay for higher education almost 20 years ago. I still miss them, and wish that I had come up with a better way to finance that semester of schooling.

Oh, that's an easy one. A Springie XD .45ACP tactical I put night sights on and Duracoated. I sold it to buy a rifle I don't even have anymore. Doh! Belongs to a cop in Illinois now.....

I buy much more carefully now.

frankly i can only think of two guns that i've sold over the years that i don't regret selling. and both of them were late 60's early 70's era winchesters that were ugly as sin and of no use to me.

every other gun i've sold has at some point in time been missed, or in a few cases I very deeply regret selling them for multiple reasons.

Its funny, and a little strange, that some of those who have posted their firearms "loss", pretty much had the same things that I had sold off over the years. I know that great minds often think alike, but do they buy and sell guns the same way? Could be.

Mine are Kimber Custom Shop Royal Carry, Beretta Silver Pigeon 12 ga and a Beretta EELL with 20, 28 and .410 tubes. Sorry they are gone.

-The long barrel version of the Browning Nomad .22 pistol. (1973-75)

-H&R Shakari .45-70 (1973-1994)

-The no-name Navy .36 cap & ball revolver...my first black powder gun. (1974-1975)

-Garcia y Rossi double barrel 12ga 3" with the beautiful wood, 18" barrels and outside hammers. (1976-1994)

Browning BDA .380
Ruger Security Six
Sterling 320 Series .22LR Auto

The Browning was the crown jewel of these but the Ruger was a great gun also. The Sterling was a low cost gun but My son and I spent many hours out in the woods and behind the barn putting thousands of rounds through it over a 5 year period.

I sold all three back in the early 1980's and regret it to this day! :banghead:
My son and I still go shooting together on occasion and it sure would be nice to have the Sterling around so we could pop a few caps with it for old times sake. :)

Life does go on, however.

I wish I hadn't sold my 12 Winchester Mod 12"s
4 Winchester Mod 42's
Savage Mod 99 takedown 250/3000
Browning Highpower that I brought back from Viet Nam
All three models of the Colt Woodsman Target guns
Smith and Wesson Mod 53 8 3/8" 22 Rem Jet Mag/22lr

And probably a few others.

I have sold several over the years, but the only 2 I really regret was a Kimber Ser. 1 Custom Classic Stainless LE and a Ser. 1 Custom Royal. Not crying over either though. I have several others that console me. They would likely be safe queens anyway.

Minor regrets only
Taurus Tracker in 45 Colt, I should have kept it for a carry gun, it would have been great after a barrel chop to 3" and the new Hogue grips that are out there.

S&W Heavy Duty Post-War, Transitional model.
