Tony Giacobbe - The Garand Guy

Hi, A newbie here looking for an M1 Garand to take care and shoot. Anybody out there purchase one from the Garand Guy Tony Giacobbe? If so I would kike to know the good and the bad before I buy.

I am also looking into the CMP route.

Bought one a few years ago using my C&R, instead of going the CMP route back then. Was in excellent shape, just like he said it would be. Easy to deal with and very prompt on communications.

However, go the CMP route whenever possible.

I never purchased a rifle from Tony, but I did send him an M1 for work. He did a fine job and I was pleased with the transaction from order through delivery.

Hey guys, Thanks for the follow up and honest responses. Buying over the net is very unnerving so I try to check things out as thoroughly as possible.

Once I get my hands on a Garand I will probably be asking some questions on the proper care and feeding. I purchased a couple of books from Scott Duff.

Good choice on the Duff books. Canfield's book is good also.

Thanks for the follow up. I did go to the sites suggested by Rusty Hammer.
Work has been very busy over the last week hence the slow reply.

Nope, Haven't downloaded the M1 manuals yet but will do. I am one to collect all the pertenant information I can get my hands on.

I am planning on procuring my M1 in early August. Don't have time right now to shot one anyway. Once I receive my M1 I'll post a full report on the buying experience and a range report.
