Took a dremel to my Glock 19... disaster! Pics of the fall out inside.

Made you look! Came out pretty well, actually.

I have two G19s and have been carrying one more often than not.

After some side by side comparisons to guns with grip reductions, I decided the finger grooves had to go. My hands are on the big side and I realized I'd be more comfortable without the finger grooves.

The real question for me is - do I need to go even further... I've shot a Bowie custom and the full reduction is very comfortable as well. I'm hitting the range tomorrow for another side by side with the Bowie.

The area is "in the white" right now - I'll go back and either buff it with 400/600 to smooth it out, or if I get really stupid, I might try to texture the area...

For anyone thinking about this - I used a dremel at the LOWEST POSSIBLE SPEED, started with a 60 grit drum, when to a 120 grit drum when I got close, and finished with a wire brush.

I can't emphasize enough, slow and steady - you can always take off more!

Looks good!

Take them to the range and see if it is an improvement.

Do you use standard magazines with or do you put extensions on them?

The few times I've monkeyed with gun stocks made me real "antsy". Just hated the feeling I was messing up. They turned out fine in spite of myself.
Your results looked good to me. Congratulations!

Mark.

Nice; I'm not a fan of the 3rd gen finger-grooves myself (my ring finger ends up sitting right on top of one of them). I've seen some fairly nice stippling jobs done with a sharpened soldering iron, if you're looking for a grip with a little more texture.

I did mine with a woodburning pen. I tried to get a pic of it but the camera just doesnt "see" it.

Doenst want to attach anyway.

I did the same thing to my 3rd gen G19. It feels much better to me, but slightly different than my 2nd gen G19 still. I used a mill file and finished it off with emery paper.

Is it possible dremel off some material around the beavertail area, without weakening the frame? (When I put 100 rounds through a G19, my thumb joint hurt.)

Interesting...

I really need to get my mits on a G19 and see how it feels. I've heard so many good things about them. I'm looking for a med-full sized carry piece that doesn't weigh a ton, and the 19 seems like a potential winner. I have big but skinny hands and am thinking the finger grooves might not be perfect for my hands either.

Any possibility that doing this to a G26 could result in being able to get all three fingers ON the grip considering my skinny fingers? I haven't groped a Glock SubCompact either...

Thats a great idea! I have somewhat large hands and the finger grooves make me space my fingers out just enough to make the G19 uncomfortable.

Why stipple vs skate tape?

1. Stippling can't come off

2. Stippling can be sanded to the right level of aggressive

3. Skate Tape just doesn't really do it for me on Glocks. 1911 front strap where it adheres totally and won't unstick, different story.

As far as the - I've shot the rest and it is the best - short version - and the G26 with a +2 is pretty comfortable, and I've got big fat fingers. The G17 and G26 use the same groove spacing IIRC, wherear the G19 was a little different. I do not need to grind G17/34 grooves.
