i took one of my surplus military rifles hunting yesterday and today(T-99 japanese 7.7 rifle), i didn,t get a shot yesterday, but today at 10.30am i walked into a group of deer who didn,t know where i was for sure and delayed running for about 10 seconds and that was enough to get a shot off. a very nice doe went down from a 180gr norma factory round at about 60-65 yards. i couldn,t have done better with my rem 30-06. eastbank.

7.7mm rifles do not get much attention these days despite the fact they were manufactured by Imperial Japan. I have no idea how many were actually built but my guess is scores of warehouses stacked floor to ceiling.

Good shooting! Thanks for sharing.

I love my arisakas. my t99 needs to be rezeroed before I give it a whorl but here's what my type 44 does on hunting trips.

TAH, i had a chance to buy a T-44 in mint condition, but the bayonet asalembly didn,t match and i,m still kicking my self. i realy wish i had bought it.my T-99 shots poa with factory norma 180,s and my reloads with the 180gr bullets at 2400fps.. eastbank.

I have yet to shoot enough 7.7 to warrant reloading for it but I do save my brass and do have dies so whenever I get enough brass I will start playing around with that.
