i hunted a snow storm today and it was a good day, i saw 31 deer .but most were in heavy brush or offered no shot. late in the afternoon on a small ridge line i walked into three deer laying down with their butts in the wind, i had a very easy about 80yd shot, so i took a head shot from a very good rest againist a tree and the rem 700 in 7mm08 did the rest. as i have good cold weather gear i was warm all day with the help from a thermos of very hot soup. eastbank.

With a head shot at that range I was expecting more gruesome pics. You either did less damage than expected, or hid your carnage well. Either way good job.

no sense scaring the children, yes is was gruesome when the deer was rolled over. eastbank.

eastbank, should be some very tasty venison, as it was an immediate kill, so no adrenaline had a chance to flow to taint the flavor of the meat.

Nice shot. I had to shoot a deer free hand in the neck at about the same distance when it presented itself with its neck after it ran from me and stopped.

Well done! I have taken deer in similar cover. They get bigger as you drag them out!

How far did you have to go before getting some mechanical help?

not far, my friend neil came to my rescue with his buggy as mine was pretty far away. eastbank.
