...and I liked it.

So I bought it BNIB Monday and it got to me on Wednesday. I went to the FFL and paid the $20 to pick it up, $30 for ammo on the way there, and $23 for cleaning supplies. This was my first handgun that I personally owned so I had to get all the good stuff for it. I took it home, cleaned it, lubed it, put it away. The weather has been rainy since Thursday so I had no way to actually go to the range. The only one near me is an outdoor one so while I knew the Glock could take it... I didn't feel like it lol.

My trigger finger kept itching and I finally saw my chance this morning to go since the weather was clear enough and I had a few hours before the rain started. I grabbed my gun, 50 rounds of 115gr American Eagle, and a few targets then ran out the door. I go to the range and get my magazines loaded and then go hang up my target on the 25 yard tires. I return to the bench where my gun was and figure I might as well try a few 25 yard shots.

I haven't actually shot a handgun in 2 years and never in my life fired a Glock up until this point. I was actually surprised... My first 2 shots hit inside the 9 ring of 100 yard rifle target. The next 2 were actually on the bullseye and the rest were inside the 8. The longer I shot or the faster I shot I could actually see a very distinct 45 degree angle to the bottom left corner.

I decided to move up a little with my last 20 rounds and stand about 10 yards away from the target. I put the majority of them inside the 8 ring then it started drifting that SAME 45 degree angle towards the bottom left corner. I had 1 or 2 fliers because for some reason I jerked and it went top right bullseye so I will pretend I meant that...

My conclusion is the gun is amazing. It is far more accurate than I am right now. The trigger on it is actually pretty decent and I had no issues at all with it. Recoil is fairly tame... I have fired guns that were a LOT snappier than this so I am happy with it in that area. The fact that I did NOT miss the target at all and kept them all inside a human size area even at 25 yards means a lot to me right now because I couldn't do that with the XD my friend had. Once I correct my lower left drift I could easily see a ragged hole at 25 yards for me. I gotta say as it stands I think my money is well spent. I had NO failure of ANY type with the ammo I used. No bulging, no FTE, no FTF, no limp wrist... nothing. I know it was only 50 rounds and that is nothing to get excited about but this IS just my first impression you know...

But but but...Glocks aren't accurate!

I know right... Honestly if I was bench resting it I think I could actually get a ragged hole now. My main accuracy issue is so obvious it hurts... even in the 45 degree decline it held a group of no more than an inch. If I wasn't pulling it down towards the bottom left I was easily hitting inside the 8 ring. I was a little shaky today for some reason so my front sight was all over the place... could be cause I just woke up and left not taking the time to eat or anything plus it's kinda cool out.

I didn't even like Glock's not long ago... no reason not to but no real reason to either. My next gun will probably be a 1911 or a M&P 40 but I definitely have a new found place in my heart for a Glock.

Glad you are enjoying yours, I enjoy mine. My G19 is my primary CCW.

Keep practicing, you will be amazed at the accuracy of this gun. The trigger only gets better with use. Just don't forget to put a drop of oil on the sear connector every once and a while. Glocks actually have excellent triggers. They are smooth, have short travel with no overtravel and a good moderate weight at 5.5 pounds. I'll stop gushing now. ;)

Well I am not jerking... I think I may have been tightening my shooting hand on accident. I gotta get used to shooting it and I need to stop thinking I am limp wristing it. I know it is me though because I find it hard to believe the gun would make the same pattern every time if it wasn't lol.

finfanatic: Thanks a lot for the chart. I seem to randomly put them at the lower right sometimes. Now I know why! :D

We now return to our regularly scheduled post.
