Over the years I've had a number of revolvers in different brands (Smith, Rossi, Taurus) but this was special! I shot this little beast with 38sp, 38+P, and 357 and it was a ton of fun! Shooting 38sp wasn't that different than most little revolvers (well maybe a little more recoil), the 38+P pushed hard into the palm of my hand but was my favorite to shoot, and 357 wasn't an issue but cerrtainly more challenging. 90% of the time I was shooting double action. It was very smooth in both double and single action. I'm sure this will be my new pocket carry, I will probably carry it with 3 +P and 2 357. It's a great light weight gun. Has anyone else given A 340 OR 360 A run?

Well you did good, you really did. Now load the little jewel with 158-grain .357 Magnums and try this little drill:

Fire 5 shots, in 5 seconds, at a target 5 yards away, and place all 5 shots in a 5-inch circle at the point of aim.

Then report back... :uhoh: ;)

Or, if you want some pyrotechnics when you shoot, try the Remington 125-gr. SJHP magnums. :p The report sounds like a thunderclap, and the shock wave from the blast might knock the target over even if you didn't actually hit it with the bullet. ;)

When you try fuff's drill, do have an appropriate pack of goodies available. Start with a cooler with ice packs, but apply the packs after you have applied bandages.

I started with an ill-conditioned hand--but it took about 3000 practice rounds--2500 shot in a 640, and 500 shot in an M&P 340 before I could start doing the 5x5x5x5 reliably and repeat it.

And that was with the GDSB 38+P 135-gr loads.

... shoot .38 +P's out of it instead of .357's

I've got a 340PD myself and it is a great carry piece, not so much fun to shoot though. Then again I have been firing mine with .357mags:evil:

Hey GunNut, I just ordered a pocket holster from you earlier this week! Wow Fuff, the 5x5x5x5, now that is a tough drill, jfh, I'm sure you are right -- it would take that much practice and appropriate goodies too :~). Ala Dan, I know what you mean, a heavier revolver is much easier to shoot and control. I hate a heavy gun in my pocket though (I've tried and just wouldn't carry it:(), I want a light gun to put in my pocket and run. -- As far a difficulty in shooting a 13 oz. gun, I didn't think 38 and 38+P were bad (not that much different than my Taurus 85 UL), the 357 was certainly more of a handfull. As I mentioned, for carry my first 3 shots will probably 38+P and if that didn't stop (whatever) the last 2 will be 357. At least that's the plan. -- I understand not everyone wants to shoot a revolver this light (with the right grip it's not that bad though), I'm sure I don't want one heavier in my pocket. Thanks for your input
