Earlier this summer, I bought a nice S&W M24-3 3" Lew Horton. I've always wanted a .44spl and after shooting this one I knew why.
Today I boxed up the first pistol I ever owned, a Ruger NM Blackhawk in .357 and gave it to the UPS man. I shot it a lot in the early 1990's in CAS, but it has sat for way too long when I quit. Aside from stripping the blue off the grip frame and ejector rod, it was as I bought it in 1992. I just didn't get excited shooting it, but it was my first gun. I would never sell it.
Now it's on the way to David Clements. It will come back devoid of the Ruger billboard, it will be rebored in .44spl, have a steel ejector housing, a new fitted base pin, an action job, a free spin pawl, and will be refinished all blue with a case hardened hammer.
Now I just need to think about grips...
It's going to be a long 4~6 month wait, but I know it's going to be worth it!
