Any advice about keeping a tool with my rifle? I'd like to keep a hex key attached to my rifle at all times. Is there a picatinny-mounted tool holder of some sort?

I got to the range the other day and found that I had forgotten the allen wrench for my my bipod to attach it to my rifle. Very inconvenient! I'm looking for a solution to help me keep one small L-shaped hex key either fastened to the rifle, or fastened to the bipod. Any advice?

Thanks!

A friend of mine had problems with an electronic optic eating batteries. The battery cover took a hex key. He drilled a slightly undersized hole in the rubber recoil pad and shoved the hex key down into it. I would assume that the same thing would work for you.

What kind of rifle?
This.

That being said...

If it is a traditional style rifle, you could just get a cheek riser with a pocket (I have 3 of the MidwayUSA ones and like them alot).

If you have an AR, you could likely get a grip that would have storage space for an Allen wrench.

Gerber makes this tool to specifically fit in Magpul MOE/MIAD grips, you could swap out one of the included bits for the correct hex bit you need.

Leatherman does it for me. I have always liked knurled fasteners for tool free mounting/dismounting. Thumb screws have always worked for me with bipods but if your one of those that like to really crank down on things one of the S levers should allow you to impart enough torque to strip out the threads.

Tou could always get one of those rubber hex key holders that used to come with drills before the chuck went keyless

Google real avid tool. Not precision by any means but cheap enough to throw in pickup. I'm with jmorris if better tools are wanted grab a leatherman with optional bit kit.
