Thank for the input everyone! Ultimately I went with an 18" .450 Bushmaster. State laws are goofy for hunting in Michigan but with a .450 I can hunt anywhere during gun season. Shes a beast. Cheers!
I have 3 ARs now. One is a 10.5" pistol. (My favorite)
One Ruger SR556, and one beater Anderson build .223 that rides in the tractor and combine with me.
If I were to build a fourth, it would be in 7.62x39.
Now that all of my rifle focus has been on maximum accuracy my AR doesn’t get out very often.
So for me, another AR platform would be something like a 20” match-type configuration shooting either heavy .223 or 6.5 Grendel and I’d probably just get it as another upper for my Armalite lower
Try something other than a .223. I have several in different calibers and am considering one in .450 Bushmaster but I already have one in .50 Beowulf so I'm wondering why I'm even considering the .450......
I am really digging my 18" barrel AR, too. Still light enough to handle decently offhand for fast-shooting stuff, but just a little more velo' for longer ranges. And very, very smooth in terms of recoil/jump.
