Yes, it was an unfortunate and sudden ending for me. I would have really liked a chance to go to proving grounds and final elimination like everyone else. But sometimes the show throws you a curve. Still had way more fun this time around and got to shoot some new and very cool weapons (MRAD and the Hotchkiss Cannon above all !!)
Weird feeling to have to relive my demise, though. This was all filmed a year ago, and you have to go through it all again with friends and family when it airs on TV.
But to be honest, I had a good run... better than expected. I haven't really shot serious competitions since 2005 when I gave it up to pursue bow hunting. And with just a couple weeks notice, I didn't have great hopes of winning this time around.
That said, I did achieve all my goals: Was not the first one voted off, lasted longer than the girl, made a really long sniper shot, won a head to head elimination for the $2k Bass Pro card, and won a main event challenge (shotguns). The other guys were at the top of their game, and I kind of saw the writing on the wall. Though I REALLY would have like to get into the 'choose your weapon - choose your shot' challenge in next episode ~!!
In the end, I figure there is a life lesson in all this.... you might win or you might lose an event, but the really important thing is to enjoy your time on the giant spinning wheel !!
