Top Shot - Season 3

Did anyone catch Jake saying he wasn't a "gun guy" and wasn't "into guns" at the end of the show? I never expected a contestant on Top Shot to not be a genuine firearms enthusiast. Then again, a lot of the on-camera commentary might just be to enhance the show's drama.

Don't have to be a gun nut or a shooter to be on Top Shot, you just need to know how to shoot.

Jake is listed as a football coach. With his first setback in the game, he has decided to quit his team and sabotage his former team for the rest of the game.

I wonder how his players, and his athletic department, feel about this exhibition of poor sportsmanship. I am certainly glad he doesn't coach my kids.

What a jerk!

I'm pretty sure I know which College he teaches football at too. If it is then I'm part of the system just not at that specific campus. Friend goes to that College though.

Either Jake is specifically creating drama for the purposes of TV, or he's a tool. You don't enter into something with a bunch of well qualified grown men and women, then begin issuing orders and ultimatums. Anyone who knows they are good with guns and is confident in their abilities would probably keep their mouth shut most of the time, having confidence they can win. Jake seems desperate to show everyone he is in charge. It's weakness of character. he probably is insecure about his skills too.

and they had people from outside the U.S.

Athena from Season 2 was born in the Philippines, and so far this season, Jake seems to be from another planet. :)

As for quitting the show, I'm guessing it's for personal reasons, a la Tara on Season 1

Probably Ian, who is British but living in Oregon
Well he did have an accent, but he immigrated to the US when they banned personal handguns and rifles in the UK and he had been in OR long enough to have a contractor's license

On the preview, Miculek was the expert next week....looks like a bunch of trick shooting. Should be awesome.

Was that him. I wasn't paying attention, finally he will be on the show.

Jake is the biggest cry baby......You are a grown man act like it. I can't wait until he has to go.

I almost wonder if they just took a Glock 17, stuck a 33 round magazine in it and called it an 18 Did anyone see a selector switch or port on the slide?

about the best view of it... Naked Slide with no switch, soooooo???

I googled the Jake guy, love this quote of his

Special Forces Too White

The usual people are upset because so many of the special forces soldiers fighting in Afghanistan are white. Although blacks are 20 percent of the military, they are fewer than four percent of special forces — and only 2.5 percent of Navy SEALs.

Jake Zweig, a black former SEAL officer, says the real problem is the attitude of the whites. “It was like being the only black in a Harley Davidson gang, as out of place as you can be,” he says. He adds that when he suggested recruiting more non-white sailors, a white officer asked him “What ... do you want us to do, lower the standards, so more of y’all can make it in?”

way to redneck it up, im sure he said "Y'all" LOL.... this guy is a MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER and teacher of TEAM sports and yet he's the biggest crybaby on here and is by far the worst team member. I wouldn't want this guy coaching my son teaching him his philosophy on life.

Wow, Jake is quite an accomplished man. There must be something else going on in the show and it's been edited to present him in such a weird way.

Just because you are ambitious and competitive doesn't mean you aren't an a-hole. He's in control of what comes out of his mouth and his attitude, and his teammates want him gone.

Notice 4 different schools in 6 years. That kinda says "doesn't play well with others" to me.

But he's "a victim"...can't be his fault! :)

Old news, but Chris Cerrino, runner up from Season 1, accidentally shot himself on the range last winter. He lives near me, but I have never met him. I actually never heard of him before Top Shot, and until that time, thought I was the best shot in the area. Still do. :neener:

Did anyone else totally miss the fight between Mike and Jake of the Blue team?

At the end of last week's episode there was a short clip of what looked like Mike and Jake of the Blue team in eachother's faces about to go off.

I didn't see a single thing about that in Tuesday 9-13's episode.

Did I just get a 'trimmed for time' episode or did I just somehow miss it after watching it twice?

Even the episode description referred to a fight or something. Already erased it.

I haven't watched this last episode yet, but I did read about the fight in the description. I'll probably watch it tonight if I don't watch the Vampires Vs. Zombies episode of Deadliest Warrior.

I don't think the fight was shown. Perhaps its going in next week.

What was the point of using a Glock 18 in the corner shot if they were only going to fire it in semi-auto? I almost wonder if they just took a Glock 17, stuck a 33 round magazine in it and called it an 18 Did anyone see a selector switch or port on the slide?

It may be because of the ridiculous NFA rules combined with the wacky California ones. Here's one guys idea:

Jake is fighting like he was taught. Use physical and psychological techniques. To some people, $100,000 is nothing to joke about.

The first season revealed it's really a competition of individuals. Jake has made it clear he understands that.

The best strategy is to put the opposing team off balance, stay in the competition and trim stronger adversaries on any team in their moments of weakness.

It may not look pretty, but as a former Seal, Jake may think losing is for losers.

OTOH, in the military you are taught teamwork. If he alienates them, they are no longer his team, but the enemy. That tactic will send him to elimination every time. He is increasing his chance of going home during the group competitions and may not see the individual competition because of his attitude.

I wouldn't give him the benefit of the doubt that he knows what he is doing. He's just a smart-ass. That kind of non-teamwork attitude would get him kicked off a football team too.
