Top Shot - Season 3

I thought originally that this show would the shooting world some favors, I'm not so sure now.

I'm still trying to figure out why the second loser (in the elimnation round) gets a $2k gift card from Bass Pro Shops-are they not rewarding bad performance? (person would not be in the elimination round if they performed well).

Wouldn't it be better to give everybody on the winning team a $500 gift card?

And as usual, please don't tell anyone I watch this show...

They may not be processing the shots through the editing equipment. Anytime I record audio at the range, the shots all sound pretty much the same, regardless of caliber. I think we're so used to Hollywood's over-processed gunshot sounds that we forget what real gunshots sound like through a microphone.
In the supplemental material on the DVD for 'Master & Commander', there is quite a bit of information about the sound work that went into making the cannons sound 'good'. The recording of authentic cannons sounded horrible on film.

The entire "almost a fight" scene from in the house looked like a completely scripted, poorly executed, drama-inducing joke.

And apparently the redhead Mike was on the howard stern show with his mom once...

I love that Jake is harping about this being an individual competition only to get mad about being singled out and not deserving it based on team dynamics.

I agree, the fight scene brought the show to a new low. I understand Jake's methods, but I seriously hope he does not stick around much longer, let alone win this thing! He is very high on himself, comparing his methods to that of "past great leaders". Wow.......

Jake will be one of the last two competitors...it will keep the ratings up.
J-bar, I bet you're correct. If he does make it to the final two, I'm going to have to suspect a set-up due to the coincidence of it. After last years question of "did George give it away, or not?" and then this..... It seems like the start of a pattern of "edge of your seat" endings.

As I've said, I despise Jake. However, I agree with his position on sending the best shooters packing so it's smoother sailing. They can talk all they want about wanting to go against the best, and all that BS, but at the end of the day, there's $100,000 on the line. I don't know about you fellas, but a hundred grand would do my family a whole lot more good that me loosing to the best.

I am so sick of Jake that I am tempted to quit watching the show. :barf:

They are going to green jerseys next week and I hope they run his tail out of there the next chance they get. All that talk about 'taking over the world' and all that is just drama for the show.
Just someone wanting to be on TV.

GET HIM OFF THE SHOW!!!!!

kenken:neener:

I still like the show, but it's reaching a tipping point for me, too. Too many "primitive weapons" challenges, and too much household drama. If next season has more of both than this one does, I doubt I'll watch any of it.

Season one: pretty good, shooting was the main theme. Season two: build up the drama and "reality" crap. Final episode showed one guy who tried really hard and "won" and another that we didn't like much throwed it his way. A gentleman after all. Season three: just about all I can take...Jake sucks royally. What an arrogant ass. What a p*ss poor example for his "coachees". Win no matter what it takes. I'll finish the season and then move on to something else. Colby, three time loser on survivor, almost makes a credible host. I'd rather see a real shooter like Miculek or even the braying Brackett as host. At least they know what they are doing.
Won't go into details about the lack of "reality" on some of the guns. 44 magnums were definitely not shooting 44 magnum ammo. Civil War Sharps using brass cased cartridges. I know it has all been mentioned before but I will only make one post and let it drop. We watch, we discuss, and we laugh.

Be warned if you listen to Mike Marelli's interview he cusses like a sailor.

There's a lot of behind the scenes stuff, including some discussion of an altered timeline.

You guys realize we're watching the History channel, not ESPN. This is a TV show, not a sports show.

I actually enjoy people who talk trash, but can back it up. People who can make the shot get the privilege of tooting their own horn.

I resent that, as a retired Sailor. ;)

I did not even watch this season. The promos with the want-a-be SEAL were enough. If he was a SEAL, someone on the team would of capped him long ago.

Yeah, George is looking like Mother Theresa about now. It would have been great to see George and Jake on the same show. That may have came to blows.

I can toot my own horn and (most of the time) back it up. I just don't see the need to deride or ridicule anyone else in the process. Jake has no class. What's wrong with being a great shot AND being classy?

It's the art of trash talking. Tell me you've never done it to your buddies playing the xbox. Atari for some of our more mature members.

Nothing personal to anyone particular here, but I've known some great trash talkers, even plenty who could really get under your skin.

Having said that, not many of them were as insecure or outright offensive as Jake.

I think it's a consensus, even among the cast members in the house who are actually living with Jake, that his 'way' of conducting himself is taking away from everyone's enjoyment of 'viewing' the show and 'participating' in the competition, not to mention 'living' with the guy.

Tonight's the night he gets booted from the house by an overwhelming online vote coupled with an agreement on the part of the other cast members and the producers of the show. YEAHHHH!!!!! :D

Oh wait.......I dreamed that. My bad. Reality is: He is never ever leaving the show and they're bringing him back next season as a Guest Team Leader to train 'both' teams in the art of being a 'Top Shot' super star. :banghead:

I think Jake will see himself on the chopping block no matter how he performs in the challenges. Everyone will want to remove that cancer from the group..especially now he has a new team to turn his deranged sights upon. The red team has enjoyed his presence on the opposing team...but now that they are all one team, things are about to get interesting. Whoever gets him off the show will be a hero amongst the remaining competitors.

Whoever gets him off the show will be this season's 'TOP SHOT' in my book.

The rules have changed!

It's a whole new ballgame now.
