Ok, so Saturday evening my wife finally drags me out to do some Christmas shopping. Quick stop at Payless so she can get a a pair of boots,,, then off to THE GUN STORES! On the way there, we're talking about shooting and she's saying how she would really enjoy going more often.

Then - - out of the blue - she drops a biggie on me...

"You know, I've been thinking. With the expense of yearly memberships, it would pay for us to buy some property just so we'd have a place to shoot"

I swear, this was her idea not mine!!

You can never have too many guns, or too many acres
My absolute, all-time, ever, biggest, gun-owner/landowner hero has to be the guy I worked with a couple of years ago.

He had a "extra" garage door on the back of his garage. He lived out in the country with a big, deep property, with a berm in the back...convienently 100 yards away from his garage. He could open up his "back" garage door, set up a portable shooting bench on marks he had painted on the garage floor, and shoot all day long from the comfort of his own garage. Reloading bench nearby.

As he described it, it was shooter's heaven.

Hal, you probably don't need my advice, but KEEP THIS WIFE!

D'oh! Why can't I meet women like that! Christmas shopping at gun shops & property to play on...you're a lucky man! :D Merry Christmas ;)

My girlfriend, quote from earlier this year:

"Honey, I don't want diamonds for Christmas, I want a gun to protect myself"

KEEPER!

My wife fully agrees with my plan to someday (after I get out of the Army in 12.5 years) buy a hunk of land big enough to shoot on, in a state that allows full-auto, has no income tax, and preferably has lots of coniferous trees.

Oh, and she's getting a Kimber Ultra Carry and CCW classes for her birthday (the big 21).

The good wimmen's is out there.....

Sorry, Hal:

Been there, done that....

Bless her, mine said to me, "well, if we're gonna move, you might as well get enough land to set up that 1000yd range for yourself so you don't havta drive over hell and gone":what: :D . Land costing what it does, we were only able to afford enough for 300yd and a separate 1500 SqFt workshop, but one thing's fo' sho'... I didn't complain. We were leavin' the sporting goods store one day and as I passed this Heritage electronic safe, she said, "didn't you say you needed a bigger safe?":what: :what: :what: Daayum, girl....we ain't even moved in yet.....

MAN, I DID GOOD!!!! YAZZUM, DAT"S ONE FINE GIRL!!!

Hal...

Buy it, but be mindful of what might happen in the future. I got 100 acres of "just land" in Southern Kentucky with about , oh about...15 to 20 wooded with a stream & gorge running down one side.
Perfect place to shoot--for YEARS. Then people built houses all around me.
Last time I was there with my AR-15, somebody called the SHERIFF on me. I was down in my OWN gorge shooting my OWN AR.

I've asked Santa that my "next" wife/girlfriend be that cool. You are some lucky people.

Sounds like a great wife Hal. My wife also fully supports the RKBA. One word of advice to anyone who is not married yet. If your dating a woman who doesnt support the 2nd admendment find someone who does. As much as I love my wife I would not have married her or even kept dating her if we didnt see eye to eye on this issue and many others. Sounds corny I guess but I didnt want to raise children in a household split by politics. Your future children deserve the best chance you can give them even if it means you giving up a sweet young thing that you dont think you can live without. Thank goodness my wife has a good head on her shoulders. I think I will go hug her right now :D .

Sunspot...

It worked out OK. He recognized me. He even popped off a few .357's from his revolver. :) I wonder if those "neighbors" thought there was a gunfight going on? :) Hey! I was there first!

Well....

When we were first married, my wife was working a lot of overtime. She bought me a Colt SAA in .44-40.

Some months later we were in the local store. I looked at a beautiful .44-40 Uberti Yellow Boy. Told her it shot the same ammo as my Colt she'd gotten me. She didn't say a thing, just picked it up, took it to the counter and said "we'll take this"

About a year later, she turned in her vacation time to get me a Browning BPCR in .45-90

And...we almost never eat out because her cooking is better than most any restaurant. She gets up at 4:00 every morning so the house will be totally clean for the day. And she's 5'2", blonde, and drop dead gorgeous.

Secret to finding a great woman is to keep looking until you find a great one. Then treat them like they're the most special thing on earth...

because they are

Better yet would be if she had the money lying about to purchase said land.
