Toy guns... I hope I do not get shot.

I am going as a cowboy for halloween this year since I have all the gear already. I did not want to go out with empty holsters so I went to Sportsmans warehouse yesterday and bought some very realistic looking toy revolvers. They look like Ruger blackhawks. They fit my holsters perfectly.

Now I just have to hope that some gung-ho LEO does not decide to gun me down in the street if he thinks they are real while we are out.

Took blaze orange targets similar to shoot n c targets and wrapped it around the barrel at the muzzle of a bolt action wood rifle when the daughter decided to be a Army troop for Halloween a few years ago. The action was metal ,looked real and worked like the original Springfield. It worked well. The toy was life size and she was tall for her age. God help the guys now. She shoots CZs and Rugers.

Unmless you point them at him, shouldn't be a problem. I went to a halloween party last year as a DEA agent. Everything was real and functional except the earpiece. The mag that was in the AR was empty.

I went to a party at a friend's house, (wasn't even Helloween) I was wearing one of my Dad's old patrol jackets, and a guy bolted over the back fence when he saw me. After we called him back and he realized I wasn't "the man" (though I was going to school for it then) , we all had a good laugh. Seems he had a warrant out on him . He just passed away last week, hit a deer on his Harley. Ride free, Chopper.

Another guy I knew in school got shot at by a cop when he pointed his cheap pot metal "Detective Magnum" (the ones in the backs of magazines that look like a Colt Diamondback) at them. He dove into a drainage ditch to get away. (which, amazingly he did!)

Shouldn't be a problem if they're kept in the holster.

I assume you look like you are over 8 or at least 12. Any LEO with the mindset that would pull and fire on a little boy simply walking around with a toy gun never should have been allowed to become a LEO in the first place. With such a mindset he probably would have been in jail a long time ago...or at least put in a special place for non compos mentis

Any LEO who would pull and fire on a man dressed as a cowboy wearing cowboy holsters on Halloween or any "dress up" time or place needs to have his badge pulled.

Since such are rare, you should be just fine.

I remember back when I was about 12 my Dad went as Clint Eastwood to a halloween party with a real super redhawk .44 in the holster, but that was a party with close friends. I'd just make sure to keep it (the toy gun) in the holster when outside and you shouldn't have problems. Is open carry legal where you are going? Perfect excuse for it

I think open carry is actually legal here in oregon but not a wie move due to the attitude of law enforcement. I consider carrying a set of un-loaded revolvers but thought I would freak out too many of my less gun-informed friends.
