Is this a reasonably good deal for both parties? Before I offer up anything in a local trade I want to make sure I’m not missing something. I haven’t bought any black powder since about 1987 when I could get it at a local hardware store that is now defunct. I only have a couple pounds of Goex left and was curious what the trade value is in today’s climate.

Black powder is running about $20 a pound right now when you can find it. Smokeless is going through the roof. I have a 4 pound jug or VitaVhouri that I paid $ 100 for a few years ago. I no longer load centerfires so I checked to see the newest price and it's up to $268 for the 4 pounds. Other smokeless are equally going for double what they were not too long ago so make sure you get a good deal.

I found a friend that needs this particular powder so I'm selling it to him for the $100 I have invested.

The value of the trade is up to you. If you have a pound of smokeless that you aren't going to use anyway, it sounds like a good deal to me. Otherwise, I have been seeing black powder available online quite often. You will need to decide if you want to pay the cash and order some black powder or keep the cash and trade.

I would look at what both were sold for 2 years ago. Then figure how badly you want to trade. Strike a deal and be happy. Locally the BP cost about 25% more than smokless traditionally. These days who knows what one thinks is a good trade.

LGS had a ton of black powder and stuff still available. $25/lb. I can’t imagine hoarding black powder. This deal is getting pretty serious.

Last weekend I traded a pound of Goex gold-label (Olde Eynsford) 3Fg for a pound of Unique. I can replace the Goex far easier and already have two pounds of 2Fg and another pound of red-label Goex 3Fg. I think it's a pretty decent trade considering we're good friends.

Some of us silly people just wash our hands.
Rapid sanitation should only happen on clean hands and I feel is ideal in medical environments.
I’m a little bit hippie. But I’ve been more worried about the sanitizer stuff they are putting on everything than the Rona. Outside of a medical environment you really don’t want to kill your good bugs. I don’t use anything that says “antibacterial”.

I suppose I should have been clear: "Two years ago I couldn't imagine people would be hoarding hand sanitizer." add to that, "...or toilet paper or paper towels or anything else that's been hoarded since."

Being prepared and stocked up is a fine idea but panic-buying is like any other kind of panic - Don't. We don't and didn't hoard anything and we never ran out of essentials - or most luxuries to be honest. Didn't need to.

Went to Scheels and there is zero powder of any sort in stock. No surprise but it was sad to see the long line of empty powder canisters, all with “out of stock” tags. No primers or ammo (other than a few scattered boxes of obscure rifle ammo and premium 3” shotgun ammo) either of course.

Maybe I just need to look around more. What are the usual places people buy black powder via the intarwebs?
I typically buy from Midway and combine orders to get the most on HazMat fees. Last week I only bought two - a pound of Goex 2F and a pound of Goex 3F - because it was all they had that I wanted. I'm loading up some BP .455/.45AR for the Webley Mk.1 some :cuss: idiot cut for .45ACP, and some .38S&W loads for my US Revolver top-break. Might also load up some .32H&R for the H&R top break. Depends on if I feel like trimming .32S&W Longs this weekend. I really like the cartridge BP rounds.

Midway has just the Reenactor powder right now. Seems they get their BP about once a month
Has anyone tried Reenactor for cartridge loading? I've read some people like it for cannon salutes and that's about it. Not too much is said about it for cartridge but if it's a blend/mix of 2F/3F and cannon I suppose it ought to do just fine for plinking and snubbies. ???

Idk about actual cartridges, but the description says great for blank cartridges, and real shooting of low pressure muzzle loaders
