[HIJACK] Can't answer your question, but I logged on to ask about Traditions in general. I was looking at a Kentucky rifle kit from them, around $200 IIRC.
Interested in everybody's opinion of the thread. [/HIJACK] :D

Steve.

I didn't order the Timber Ridge. I really couldn't get past the open bolt thing and what I read about it, it took a bit to get the breech out. I was really wanting a tool-less breech block on a break breech rifle for ease of bore scrubbing at the range between shots. That's my biggest gripe about my Hawken, needs to be scrubbed every other shot to maintain accuracy and it's simply not that easy to do with that gun, have to run a wet patch down it and then dry the bore, much easier with a barrel that's open at both ends.

So, I stopped at Gander Mountain in Sugar Land, Texas today and picked up a CVA Wolf for 179 plus tax, under 200 out the door. I don't think I'd have been really happy with that Timber Ridge even if it'd turned out to be a tack driver. I think I'll get a scope base for this one, too, as I have a good 3x9x40 lighted reticule scope I'm doing nothing with that would be great on this thing for night hunting hogs. I'm going to work it out with the irons first, though, find a load it likes. I hope it likes 777 cause it sure burns clean. :D I even have some left over shockey's gold I'll try in it, too. That didn't work for crap in my Hawken, but never know, different gun. Pyrodex RS is what works in the Hawken.

I think this CVA will be better for me for hunting, too. No need to shoot to unload every morning. I can just pull the breech block and dump the charge.
