I built a couple of them, and am building my third. The Kentucky kit has a two piece stock that was a little too short at the split in the middle. I had to make a thicker plate out of brass to fill the gap. The trigger was sloppy too. I fabricated a thin flat spring to keep it from rattling. It'll just flop around otherwise. The sear was messed up as well, but Traditions sent me a new one with no questions asked at no cost. It's a little short for a Kentucky rifle too, being just a little longer than my T/C Hawken, and about four inches shorter than my Armi Sport Kentucky long rifle. Most of the fitting, and all of the inletting is done, compared to the Cabelas Hawken I built which was pretty rough. All in all, it turned out OK.
The Trapper pistol kit was pretty decent and a good shooter with a nice double-set trigger. Shoots pretty nice with 60 grains and a PRB. I'm working on the frontier rifle kit now. So far, so good. The wood isn't anything to write home about, but for the price, it ain't too bad either. They just don't compare in quality to the Pedersoli kits IMO. Those come with much nicer hardwood, and the parts just seem like they are on a higher level. So are the prices though. Check Dixie Gun Works out for those.
