Just fired my first batch 44 special with 5.2gr Trail Boss, 240 gr. Speer LSWC, 300 CCI primers in a 4 in S&W 624. The groupings where fantastic. In fact, better then any unique load I ever tried. The gun is magna-ported and the recoil still felt a little snappy. I would like to here any comments, or opinions… Thanks..

I've shot several tens of thousands of Trail Boss .44 Spc. loads through my 629 as that's my IDPA revolver load of choice. I've used as much as 6.7 gr. but normally run down in the 5.5 gr. range where I get very good SD and ES numbers with 200 gr. LRNFPs.

Great choice! Fills the case, shoots soft and pleasant, accurate.

I think you will find that the porting really only makes a difference when you have high-powered loads. Kind of like turbochargers which don't really kick in until the engine gets up to speed. With magnaporting and muzzle brakes, it is the muzzle blast that powers the effect.

Incidentally, my shooting buddy started loading under my tutelage using TB in his 500 Magnum at around 10 grains under a 300 / 350 grain bullets. They shot like 22 rimfire out of that heavy gun. 800 fps or so

Trail Boss is the only powder I use with lead and plated bullets in the old straight walled black powder cartridges. Super accuracy and much cleaner burning than powders such as Unique.

Same. It takes so little for such a fun load. I can't wait for my brass to arrive so I can load up a few hundred rounds.

Trail Boss really is a fun powder. I enjoy it immensely in my GP100 and if I end up getting the Redhawk .44 that keeps calling my name, I suspect TB will get a lot of use with it.
