I just bought hodgdon trail boss not imr trail boss and just checking if they are the same or is it like h4985 vs imr 4895?

Believe it is the same. Note the IMR load data sheet is printed by Hogddons.

Hodgdon is the owner & distributor for IMR powders.

I had no idea there was anything except IMR Trail Boss as sold by Hodgdon?

They only sell it in one kind of packaging.
I thought?

RC is correct. It is all the same, I use Trailboss for all my cowboy loads and noticed the change in labeling and online. It is still the same product, have noticed the Hodgdon appears to be streamlining their product lines between all three, IMR, Winchester and Hodgdon.

That was a change made when they announced the discontinuance of the IMR SR powders. Trail Boss was sold under the IMR label, it now carries the Hodgdon label. Same powder, same load charts.

It's the only powder that looks like donuts. Pretty easy to tell from anything else.

It seem that with the discontinuation of the SR powders and PB Hodgdon is bringing IMR back to it's roots, Improved Rifle Powders. (not pistol or shotgun powders)

If you look at the IMR and Hodgdon sited you will moved they moved 700x, 800x, Trail Boss and PB over to the Hodgdon site. A few weeks ago the three SR powder were on the Hodgdon site too but for some reason they moved them back to the IMR site. (not that it matters since they will be gone soon anyway)
