Was thinking about getting a Trailmaster for my offroad gear setup. Anyone got experience with one and an educated opinion?

I dont know how educated it is but I have 2. I've had them about three years, have worked them pretty hard, chopping, digging, and even some skinning.
I like the weight, balance and overall feel. Some have complained about the grip but I have no problem with it myself.
If I needed another field knife I'd buy another.

Just mho

I've had mine for about 19 years. Other than needing the occasional sharpening it has not failed me. I've put it through some very rough usage (chopping some wood, opening cans...etc.).

Got several knives I can use for off road and the Trailmaster isn't my first or second choice as the only large knife to take. If you're able to take a small axe or bow saw you're better off with a good 4-5 in. fixed blade like many that Cold Steel makes. If you're limited to a single knife with no axe or saw then I'd opt for their Kukri. If you're not restricted to only getting Cold Steel products then I'd go for the BKT Brute or one of the HI Kukris (John Shirley's favorite).

I bought a stainless version about 15 years ago and have used it since. They are expensive but worth it when you need it, mine regularly cuts through folded carpet for trash disposal.
