Besides the basic NRA training courses and private lessons, where do Marylanders get their training. Do any of the "big time" trainers ever hold classes in MD?

Is anyone willing to sponser one in, or near, the Baltimore area?

I do not have a lot of money to spend, so not traveling a long distance and paying for room and board for a few days would be a great thing.

Please let me know what my options are?

I've never been able to find a big time trainer in maryland. I could defaintly get tactical repsonse to come up here and host a pistol course, but we would need to find a range to do it at. If you have any idea's for ranges that would be willing to let us shoot for two 8 hour days. Let me know.

Just need a facility...

crofrog,

Thanks for responding. I have not found what I would call a good range. I am not a member of any ranges. I would like to join one but they either are too far away to be practical or have bad hours (for me) of operation.

I have perused some of the trainers web pages and many will come to you if you can get a dozen students together and a range to use. I am sure that I could find a few folks that would attend, the big problem is the range.

As "Anti" as MD is, I am sure that there are enough shooters here to support a proffesional training session or two. We just need someone with an available range.

I would love to attend one,

Dan

That's my thought's on the matter exactly...

For tactical response to travel. They need to have 5 feet of range space per shooter and a minium of 10 shooters. If we can find a range big enough to accomidate that they will help us advertise the class. I'm sure we could have 10 people interested in doing it.

I've trained with them before and actually took the last "tactical pistol" they offered before they changed it to fighting pistol. It was top notch instruction and I would not mind taking the class again.

If we are unable to find a range (which saddly seems rather likely) they are offering the pistol and FOF class in hollisday, PA this year which isn't _too_ far away.

How many people do you need, and how much does it cost per person?

Just FYI, I'm not with Tactical Repsonse. According to there website they need 10 people to travel. I'm more than willing to do the work to host a class I just can't find a place to allow us to shoot. If you know of a range that is 50 feet wide and will let us have the class there please let me know.

I've heard some good things about this place:

Delmarva Sporting Clays
23501 Marsh Road
Mardela Springs MD 21837
(410) 742-2023
Steve Richardson

Appparently they have a covered pistol/rifle range and are very friendly to all sorts of firearms. Haven't been there before but am planning on making a trip down soon.

I'd be really interested in a training course in MD. Add another name to the list...

The flyer for the DelMarVa range down near Cambridge says groups are welcome.

Tactical Training "Close" to Maryland

I have taken a classs with John Murphy at Quantico, VA, took about an hour to get there from Bowie - Uses the Quantico Shooting Club - Defensive Handgun I, trying to fit the follow up classes II and III into my schedule - John's instruction was exactly what I was looking for - class was very good, classroom and range time - shot around 800 rounds over two days. Price very reasonable for the quality of the instruction.

An option to consider

quantico is probably your safest bet. you could try and work something out with the guys down at crucible. their facility is usually silent on the weekends. during the week we keep them busy, in addition to whatever class dyncorp has going. anyone tried the outdoor range down in va. forget the name of it now. clark brothers or something like that. wouldn't mind getting some training in myself without having to buy a plane ticket to do it.

A buddy of mine has lined up something next month down in Williamsburg, VA. I went to college down there and am looking forward to the trip. I think there are some more slots available...if you don't mind a three hour drive.
