I am new to firearm ownership although I have always read about guns as I find them very interesting from a mechanical/engineering standpoint.

Anyway, this past weekend I bought my first firearm (Glock 19) and I want to take some training.

I am planning to start with the NRA Basic Pistol class, but from there I'd like to take some self defense/tactical type training.

Are there any trainers/locations that anyone can suggest in the DC/Baltimore Metro area?

Thanks.

dmw16, Welcome to The Highroad. As a instructor I am part of a group that offers NRA basic pistol courses to the general public. Here is the link to our group.

We are but one option. I'm sure other instructor's can chime in as to their being availible to you as well. You have many options open to you regarding training. The Highroad is a excellent source of education as to getting started in the proper way to handle and shoot a firearm. Info as to where to shoot, the care of your firearm, etc can be learned right here. We're here to help regardless if your a new shooter or someone that's been shooting for most of their lives.

IMHO, you have made an excellent selection for a first handgun.

And I congratulate you on your wise decision to seek out professional training right away.

I attended NRA Basic Pistol at Gilbert Indoor Range in Rockville (?) several years ago. Instruction was professional and by the book.
