Since I am a novice and new to shooting my current schedule for practicing is: dry fire at home and practice mag changes during the week. On the weekends I go to our range and practice standing or sitting. Our range will not allow prone. I shoot my AR at 25 yards really well and have just started shooting at 100 yards. How do you train for your rifle competitions?

Any suggestions on practice routines? Also, where do you get your targets for 100 yard ranges?

Thanks

Sounds like you are off to a good start. I do basically the same. Dry firing has been discussed here and I concur it is very effective. Don`t ignore simply walking either, especially if you go on to shoot across the course. I would encourage you to go to a reduced course match. Assuming you haven`t been to a match, I would just observe the first time. Then participate in the next. You will learn a good bit by being around more experienced shooters. Here is a list from the NRA of approved target suppliers. http://www.nrahq.org/compete/licensed.asp Welcome to the sport ! Kerwin

I agree sounds like you are doing a good job. Most people i know at ranges are very good at helping and giving tips. I would always be open to just asking questions of people at the range. I would also check into weather your range give any kind of lessons.
