Well, I've been shot by role players at the NTI, those little nasty gadgets with the Tactical Teds at the NTI and by TXGunGeek (haven't I?) - thus, I've passed the test.
We are all on the same page here, I think. The FOF gives you a touch of stress innoculation and some confidence that when it goes to poo, that you can respond - rather than freezing (which of course can always happen) - but you want to minimize it.
Back to the issue of home alone airsoft - I found one of the most useful parts of the NTI and at Karl's is the debrief. The fluid interaction, etc. are wonderful but seeing yourself on tape and having someone extremely knowledgeable point out flaws is great. Having Sheriff Vicki Farnham grill you after a shoot is quite an experience.
So if one wants to practice at home - that's not a bad idea but remember that a true FOF experience is something that serious folks need. We are lucky to have resources in TX at Karl's to do it - or get shot up by the local department in training - that's an experience to fight a team.
