transfer fee

Got a couple of $5 transfers from a buddy who worked at Express Police Supply (normally $10) before they closed. Those were super cheap transfer fees.

Today, I paid $20 at a different local shop. Got me an all German Sig SP2022. Some other shops charge around $40-$50 which I think is ridiculous. Good thing there is an abundant supply of local gun stores where I live which allows you to look around.

The price varies wildly, it seems. My local shop has charged $25 since 2007. Another shop in town charges $20, but it's not my kind of place, regardless of the $5 savings. A third shop in town charges $50 ... not sure who pays that freight, but it's not me. I'm fortunate to have some options; lots of folks do not, and it can pay to shop around.

Around my area (East Central FL) $10-35. Check with local pawnshops. Many have FFLs and are happy to make an easy 20 or 25 bucks.

$35 isn't completely out of the ballpark, but around here $20-25 is more common and the guy I normally use only charges $15 (and has occasionally ran "transfer sales" where he does them for $10).

There's plenty of options in the area though. I've personally dealt with 4 different shops for transfers and know of 4-5 more that will do them. Even some of the pawn shops in the area have caught on and are now offering transfers as a service (though most do want $30-35 there).

Like anything I'd shop around a bit and find the lowest price before settling on one. Might take some research but once you find a place that works well for the price you reap those savings every time you purchase ;).

I paid $10.00 for my last transfer. Its a guy who does business out of his house.

I used to pay $20-$25 for rifle or pistol at another place. I ordered a number of stripped lowers and got them to just charge me $10 for those.

There used to be a Lgs close to me who charged $50.
