Several years ago I received my CCW as a Texas resident, took the course, etc. I then moved to Tennessee, where I took a new CCW course. I am now in Colorado. I have retailed all certificates. Do I need to go and take ANOTHER course, or do states honor the NRA pistol instruction safety course papers between reciprocal states? It sure stinks every time I move to have to take another CCW course (especially now that I live in a State that doesn't honor non-resident permits)!

Thanks,

Nick

Most likley, yes, you will have to take a new CCW course when you move to another state and apply for a CCW permit in that state.

Every state has different testing/certification standards and various laws pertaining to CCW vary from state to state.

It's always good to take the 'local' ccw course when you move. The good ones will have an attorney familiar with firearms laws of the state. I've moved about 7 times since I got out of school and have held 5 different ccw permits (the other two didn't allow CCW at the time). I always picked up a tidbit here or a tidbit there from the different courses. Money well spent IMHO.
