I have my CCW in New York State. I will be moving to North Carolina in the next month. When I set up residence in NC, I plan to acquire a NC State Pistol Permit. How can I transfer my currently owned guns from my New York Permit to my North Carolina Permit?

I went thru this when I moved to NC in 1995 from upstate NY. First of all, NC doesn't register handguns so, bring them down as you are welcome here. You may possess handguns here without a permit like you are used to in NY. Watch how you transport thru the various states between there and here. Most require that they be locked away from the reach of anyone. (carry in trunk if possible) NC is a shall permit state where once you have established residency, you take an approved safety course and then apply thru the county sheriffs office for your concealed carry. If I can be of further help, PM me.

Thanks for the info. Are things the same now as they were back then?
