Greetings all!

I have a question that internet research hasn't answered. I would like to know about the legality of transporting an unloaded revolver, in a holster, in a backpack, in the cab of my truck (behind the front seats). I have found nothing that would suggest this is illegal, but would like someone to confirm that. Also, if my revolver is unloaded, holstered, in a pack, and behind the front seats, can I legally keep a loaded speedloader, say, or a box of ammo in the center console?

All of the searches I've done just turn up the laws about transporting loaded handguns, or for places like Portland, that you can't have loaded magazines either. Would a speedloader be counted as a magazine for that?

I'm pretty sure that everything I've asked about is legal, at least on a state level, only because I can't find anything that says otherwise.

Any help is helpful!

Thanks,
Josh

Josh,

I'm certainly no authority on whether your analogy is legal or not, but I would say that if you don't have a CHL, it is pushing it.
I got my CHL just so I would not need to be concerned with these things. Like fishing in the spring with a coat that covers the top half of a sidearm strapped to my waist.

Also, there is an excellent book available that may help to answer this and other questions.

Yeah, I went and looked through a copy of that book today. Basically, if you don't have a CHL (which I don't), and the handgun is going to be in the passenger compartment (my truck's cab), it needs to either be openly visible or be in a locked compartment or box. Neither my glove box or my center console lock, so I think in general I'll just put the factory lock through the cylinder, and tuck it deep in a pack behind the front seats. Ammo separate.
