OK, in anticipation of aquiring a trap door carbine I was looking in the Pedersoli manual and came across the "Ammunition used should not exceed 18,000 C.U.P." statement.
So, what do you trap door shooters use in your rifles?
My Sharps just loves the 13gr trail boss and 405 bullet combo but I believe that would be too much pressure in the trap door.
Black powder is always an option and is planned but, dang, that Trail boss burns clean and shoots good...:)

Mild TD Loads

Used to shoot the Ideal 457124 (came is at 405 gr. with very soft mix). The best load out of my '78 Carbine was with 10 gr of Unique. That old gun would eat them up and they were not a high pressure load. My '84 rifle loved the same bullet with 12 gr of Unique. A tackdriver. Again, not a heavy load by any means.

I too, like how clean TB shoots, but it does produce some higher pressures than other powders giving the same velocity. In my Marlin GG, 12 gr of Unique with a 405 HB is a one hole shooter at 50 yds with factory sights. Also the same with 13 gr of HS6...one hole three shots. Best thing is that none of the loads I mentioned are anywhere near being called a hight pressure load. I believe that SAAMI lists the pressure around 25K, but then I'm relying on my failing (old man) memory....And that was for the TD range.

Shoot me a PM if you're looking for more data on this from my sources. I don't want to take up too much thread time for the other folks here....

I load mine with a 405 grain hollow based RN bullet similar to the one designed by the Springfield Armory. A full case of black powder and a large rifle primer. The hollow base expands to grab the rifling and it is a accurate load with all the power I need for my hunting. I use a similar load in my 50-70 Trapdoor and it is even better for hunting.
