Since we seem to have had several "dedicated" trap gun questions, I thought I would add my own. My own Remington 870 TB trap gun does not seem to eject the spent shell with as much gusto as my standard 870. I am wondering if this was meant by design so as not to hit your neighbor in the noggin when shooting doubles or if it is just a figment of my imagination.

Anyone else notice this? Guys with 1100s use shell catchers but do you see any difference in ejection?

Just something that makes me go hmmmmm

I see no difference in ejection from my 1100 trap gun to others, BUT.... I do see differences in ejection between different ammo depending on how hot the load. I am not sure how that rates with a pump, since it ejects by hand.

Might want to check the ejector on the 870 trap-gun and see if the rivet's are getting loose.

That could cause less then robust ejection.

Mine is older and the ejector is just floating in the channel. It makes reassembly interesting.

Before anyone says the rivet broke, the ejector has no hole for a rivet.

Check the forward edge of the ejector for roughness and wear. Your TB may have enough rounds through it to affect ejection.

The TB I had had no problem flinging empties.

Not to worry, it shucks them plenty good enough. The gun also doesn't have that many rounds through it. I think I have probably only put @ 5000 through it if that and before me it couldn't have been many. It was still stiff when I got it. I think its just the way this gun is. It gets them out OK, just not as strongly as my other gun. I just thought maybe it was a "trap" gun thing. Hear guys complaning about getting hit by empties so I thought maybe Remington just softened up the ejectors a little on the target guns.:)
