Travel with Long Gun

I will soon be traveling from Ohio to Vermont and I would like to take a shotgun with me. I will be traveling by Ford Ranger reg cab. The single shot combo (2 barrels) will be unloaded,broken down and packaged in a soft case. The case will be behind the seat. Would this be legal in OH,WV,PA,NY,VT?

I checked NRA and Packing.org and didnt find anything saying its specifically legal or illegal. After reading the NY laws I felt dizzy. Did a quick search of THR but didnt see a specific answer about long guns in NY for nonresidents.
It might be helpful if everyone chimed in about their home state just for reference. Thanks.

AFAIK, I will be legal but I wanted a 2nd,3rd, and 4th opinion.
I know about the federal provision but that dont mean I wouldnt be arrested,charged,detained,gun confiscated and the whole nine yards.
In review of the laws again, I think I should also place the soft case into a hardcase with a lock. I would like to please every state if possible.
