You CAN have your weapon on your person IN A CAR on school grounds for the purpose of picking up or dropping off your child. If you go into the school...gun gets secured in the vehicle.

Yeah... I think its like this.

No CWP = must unload gun prior to driving on school property to drop off your kid.
With CWP = you dont have to unload BUT if you get out of the car, gun gets secured

I live in Arizona so here it is. You can carry concealed in state parks and establishments that serve alcohol here unless it is posted other wise. So far as carrying other places, open or concealed is perfectly legal, grocery stores, banks, virtually any where that isn't posted. If your going to the post office, library, state or federal buildings, leave it in your car. The court house allows you to store it in their safe keeping and is able to be retrieved within a few seconds of asking as you leave. A permit isn't necessary to conceal or carry open. And you can as well carry in any manner desired within your car, under the seat, glove box, on the seat, on your person concaled, no limitations. One good practice is to inform LE if you are approached for any reason of the fact you are wearing and they will greatly appreciate it. We do have a new law that went into effect on 7/29/2010 that states you can not remove or intentionally touch your weapon while in public for any reason other than self defense. It is illegal to come within 1000 feet of school grade school property while carrying a loaded gun with few exceptions. But that law is a federal one put in place in 1994. Go to armed personal defense. com for a better description of our laws in detail, especially self defense laws which got fixed on 7/29/2010 once and for all.

NOTE: This is not accurate. In Arizona, you may carry a gun concealed in an establishment that serves alcohol only if all these conditions are satisfied: (1) you have a concealed weapons permit recognized by Arizona; and (2) you do not consume alcohol; and (3) the establishment is not posted in accordance with Arizona law to the effect that guns aren't allowed.

For the law on this, see ARS 4-244 (emphasis added) --
It is unlawful:
.....

29. For any person other than a peace officer or a member of a sheriff's volunteer posse while on duty who has received firearms training that is approved by the Arizona peace officer standards and training board, the licensee or an employee of the licensee acting with the permission of the licensee to be in possession of a firearm while on the licensed premises of an on-sale retailer. This paragraph shall not be construed to include a situation in which a person is on licensed premises for a limited time in order to seek emergency aid and such person does not buy, receive, consume or possess spirituous liquor. This paragraph shall not apply to:

(a) Hotel or motel guest room accommodations.

(b) The exhibition or display of a firearm in conjunction with a meeting, show, class or similar event.

(c) A person with a permit issued pursuant to section 13-3112 who carries a concealed handgun on the licensed premises of any on-sale retailer that has not posted a notice pursuant to section 4-229.

30. For a licensee or employee to knowingly permit a person in possession of a firearm other than a peace officer or a member of a sheriff's volunteer posse while on duty who has received firearms training that is approved by the Arizona peace officer standards and training board, the licensee or an employee of the licensee acting with the permission of the licensee to remain on the licensed premises or to serve, sell or furnish spirituous liquor to a person in possession of a firearm while on the licensed premises of an on-sale retailer. It shall be a defense to action under this paragraph if the licensee or employee requested assistance of a peace officer to remove such person. This paragraph shall not apply to:

(a) Hotel or motel guest room accommodations.

(b) The exhibition or display of a firearm in conjunction with a meeting, show, class or similar event.

(c) A person with a permit issued pursuant to section 13-3112 who carries a concealed handgun on the licensed premises of any on-sale retailer that has not posted a notice pursuant to section 4-229....

Since its been posted incorrectly twice in just a few posts.... lets post it correctly twice in a single post and see what happens.

If you dont have a CWP, you can not go into a restauraunt that serves alcohol.

If you DO have a CWP, you can go in but still cant drink alcohol.

If its posted correctly, it doesnt matter if you have a CWP or not.
