Hello all. Longtime reader. Haven't really posted much.

Getting ready to take my son on a week long motorcycle/camping trip. From Southern Nevada up through the state parks and scenic byways of Southern Utah, and maybe catch the Northern Rim of the Grand Canyon, Four Corners Monument on the way home.

I had my CCW for years in Missouri (moved out here about a year and a half ago) and let it expire last January. Just been too busy to re-take the class and get current out here.

I'd like to take my trusty XDM-9 along for the ride since we will be camping in some pretty remote areas, but I'm unsure of how the law looks at things when you're on a motorcycle and camping.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

No current CCW permit means no CCW.

Your best bet is FOPA compliant transport. In a box, separate from the magazines. With that restriction it turns your gun into a brick, a brick you may as well leave at home.

Referencing USAcarry and I am assuming that you have a Resident Nevada CCW permit, there are only 3 problem states in the area: Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico. The rest honor a NV permit.

However if you do not have a NV permit and only an expired MO permit, follow the open carry suggestions. Be sure to print off the state's open carry law from a reliable source just in case a LEO tries to pull a man with gun incident.

Check Utah's and Nevada's laws on www.handgunlaw.us. In Arizona, you're good to go. Concealed-carry, open-carry... you pick. Just remember that a business with a "No Guns" sign out front has lawful authority to make that call.

Hey, no state is perfect. Be safe and enjoy your trip.
