I will be driving to California in a couple of weeks and was wondering if I could travel with my Glock19 with the 15 round mags.
I already know that upon arrival to Cali that the gun needs to be unloaded and locked in a case in the trunk with the ammo secured seperately.{Made this trip last year and carried a revolver}
I was told that hand guns that would "accept" a higher than 10 round capicity were illegal.
Can anyone clear this up for me {and post links}
Thanks

Railroader's right.

Leave the 15rd mags at home, acquire/travel with 10rd mags for CA use.
The Glock is fine, as is your concept of locked/unloaded status.

Anything above 10rds is a 'high capacity' magazine, and only those of us already in CA and in possession of them before Jan 1 2000 can have them.
(Which is why some of us went nuts and bought bags of hicap mags for guns we didn't even own then!)

Thanks,
I will probably just carry a revolver.
For those of you who live there, one question, why?

Why do I live here?
I was born here, that's probably the number one reason most people could give you for any location where they live.
Also, I happen to like the weather. Never too cold, rarely too hot; even less often humid.
I can go in the ocean year round, wear shorts most any day of the year, and have mountain snow when I want it.
I have also studied on the beach in February on a 90º day.
I can ride my bike any day I want.
I have no need for storm windows or doors; I don't have to screen in my pool from bugs.
I can, and have, skied and surfed on the same day, within a hour and a half drive!

It's not all about gun ownership, otherwise a lot of states would be vacant.
For me, the PRK is a pretty good place to live, all in all - your mileage may vary.

Well, I get taxed about 85% less than a resident in California.
My property taxes on 3 acres and a 2400 square foot house just outside Austin are about 100% less than similar property in Cali, there is no state income tax,it cost about $59 a year for auto registration.
We are a "shall issue" state.{A permit at all is repugnant,but at least we are shall issue} I can own a machine gun here.{provided I jump through the BATFE hoops} I can buy a new military pattern semi automatic rifle with 1,000,000 round magazines if I want to. Same with a handgun.
My govenor did not ban .50 caliber rifles.
Some of the cheapest gasoline in the country.
Within a 50 mile radius I have over a dozen ranges{both public and private} I can train at. Some as close as 9 miles.
While cops tend to be pin headed halfwits everywhere{ good cops, all 3 of you, I am not talking about you} at least in Texas the burden of proof is on the state and LEOs have been instructed not to arrest if a person is carrying in their personal vehicle.{See "travelling law"}
