CoalTrain49, hunting with a Garand would be a good deal. We even have reduced capacity en-blocs for hunting in capacity restricted states. I seem to remember other semi-auto hunting rifles in big game killing rounds.

not all semi-autos are Ar-15. I hunted with a Remington 742 for a couple of years, and exprienced half the recoil of a bolt gun. (not that a .30-06 has very much recoil anyway.)
If you have no desire to hunt with a semi-auto, then "mo powah to ya." But what you like isn't necessarily what another person likes.
We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.

A BAR, a big bore ar15, a Remington 742, heck even an sks all make good hunting rifles. Don't need to rule out a semi just for being semi auto...
