Treso Nipple availability

Treso brass products and especially our beloved Treso nipples have been getting more and more difficult to find. Through an unusually fortunate set of circumstances, I was able to contact the gentleman who owned the business and learned that he is in the process of relocating operations from Colorado to Montana. He said that he hopes production can begin in a new Montana facility within a couple of months. I hope he is right and I know we all wish him good luck in his new venture.

So I'm posting this just to share the information I received. Hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel.
 
Track of The Wolf nipples claim to have interior dimensions like that of the Treso nipples. Mine are for my Ruger and have the same exterior dimensions as the originals. Love them! And they are ~$2 cheaper each, which will certainly pay the shipping on a set. For me, though, it was a matter of finding something with a hex head as I spent a lot of time finding something to work as I my pistol didn't include the nipple wrench.
 
I have found the Slix nipples from Desperado bullets to be a satisfactory replacement for Treso nips.
Only made for Uberti & Pietta tho.
The last few sets of Treso I have bought have been from a fella on ebay, who buys them in bulk and repackages them.

I had poor luck with Slix Shot nipples on my '51 Uberti Navy.

I was using the exact caps specified for the nipples, Remington #10s. But, I still experienced shattered caps that jammed up the action. I E-mailed the company that made Slix Shots and the guy said they are specifically designed to work with light powder charges. I was using 20 grains of GOEX FFFG in my Navy, and he said that was too much powder. He recommended no more than 15 grains.

Apparently, so he says, the Slix Shot nipples are designed for cowboy action shooting and are meant to be used with low charges and light mainsprings. Not cool. I was under the impression that they were meant to allow full charges and not have the caps blow to pieces. I was wrong.

Just keep this in mind before you buy Slix Shot nipples! They did not work for me, though they may work for you depending on many factors. They are not magical miracle nipples though.
 
I like the Slix. did not l;ower the powder charge but did go with lighter springs. I've been shooting them since they came out.
