after having the trouble with the xd, i had decided that i was gonna do some shooting and not let anything hold me back, so i had plenty of .40 ammo left over so i went to the rental section and got a h&K p2000, and to spice things up a little i went ahead and rented a kimber custom II. here are my observations.

KIMBER CUSTOM II

Fit and Finish
was great, the slide/ frame fit was tight but moved freely and smoothly. it fit my hand well and pointed naturally. i love that grip angle.

Sights
i was kinda dumb founded to notice that there were no dots for the sights they were a black front post and a black rear sight, it proved to be not a problem, but i prefer the three dots and definetly will get three dot night sights on mine.

Trigger
was crisp and smooth as could be. pretty light as well i would say 4lbs maybe. i was very impressed with it. a fine trigger, which aided in the accuracy department i am sure.

Accuracy
It normally takes me a mag or two to get the feel for a new guns trigger, but not with this one, after 3rds i was hitting right where i aimed dots on the sights or not. i was very pleased with the accuracy even with blaser 230gr was putting the rds in the same whole.

Overall
i will definetly make my next purchase a 1911 and it will be a kimber. as a matter of fact it will be the pro carry tle II lg to be exact, renting that gun sold me on the kimbers, plus the past experiences i have had with them as well.

H&K P2000

Fit and Finish
was great which is true with all the H&k weapons i have used and fired, a true testament to the outstanding worksmanship of a german piece of equipment.
there was a light rail on there, which i checked to ensure would except my m6 light/ laser combo off the xd and it did so wonderfully. i like light rails. :D
the girth was perfect and i believe a little thinner than the xd in the same caliber, it felt good in my hands.

Sights
i was happy to see that the sights were of the three dot combat sight variety just the way that i like them, they were a little higher setting than i like but they worked well.

Trigger
now this is one of the only issues that i had, the trigger was smooth but it was just so long. i got used to it after a while for the most part and i am sure with a good range session or two to focus on the trigger i do lot better, but the trigger didn't impress me much. it was good though to try out other polymer gun trigger that is not like the glock and xd's.

Features
yes it does have the ambi slide release but that isn't a big deal to me, and there are sand paper type grips on the stocks, but the range is indoors and it was hot and i was sweating my butt off and it was hard at times with out wipping off my hands to get a solid grasp on it like i like.

Accuracy
after a few mags a getting used to the trigger i had good results out at the 10 and 15yds mark, on paper plates with 2" circles, i would pull one here and ther but for the most part the bullseye containes the majority oof the shots.

conclusion
do i plan or will i buy one? NO the no/go's out way the go's for me personally, but are they fine firearms? yes they are, i am not giving up on H&K just yet i absolutly love the usp's and plan on one later on. not to fond of the lem trigger and some of the features serve me no real purpose, but they are fine firearms. by the way there were zero malfunctions throughout the session with either gun!

Sure your XD is non-op for a while :( but now you have an excuse to shoot guns you don't normally would...enjoy it!
